Just checking in about the WDW Railroad Refurb that was supposed to be from the End of September to the Middle of November this year. Now all the sites are showing it as Oct 12 to Mid November. Anybody hear about this? I am hoping it is true because we want to ride it in early October. Please help me find info on this!
Thanks!

We had a Magic Behind the Steam tour set up for Nov 19th and they called us to tell us the railroad wouldn't be running then. They were very nice about it, refunded our money, gave us a free Family Magic Tour and sent us vouchers for a Magic Behind the Steam for a future visit good through 2019. We were bummed, but they were so nice about it that we're already talking about our next trip so we can use the voucher. Pretty smart on their part.

To answer your question (or actually not answer it) they did say that they weren't going to be done with the track work by our Nov date but I don't know if that because they were moving the start date out or it was going to take longer. I would guess the latter and the railroad won't be running. Sorry.

So bummed it won't be open for our trip in two weeks. It was closed for our trip last year too! :(

The DIS refurb site does have the RR down until 11/20 :(. I'm kinda curious how they do the Welcome show without it? Has anyone been at RD to see that?

It was down for our trip last year, but we were able to hitch a ride on our first day this year as it was the RR's last day of operation before the refurb. It was the only must do of the day for me as I wanted to share the experience with my kids for the first time.

Question: Do they always shut down for refurb in the fall?

On a tangent- the MK railroad only has 3 stops, correct? Do people find it useful as a form of transportation? (At DL the layout is such that hopping the train between the 4 stops is often a quick way to get from one side to the park to the other when your feet hurt!)

No you could walk faster.

No they do not always shut it down for refurb in the fall. The last two years they have been replacing ties and other infrastructure. It's been open most other years and we go in October.

Good. I have always gone in Early June, but have been going the last few years in October. The railroad has always been a great way to travel around the park and get some rest for my feet at the same time. It is also something I remember enjoying with my departed mother as a child. I would hate to have it close down every time I go in the fall.

It takes you to the farthest two lands from Mainstreet, Frontierland and the far side of Fantasyland, so yes, I do think it is useful. It doesn't drop you in Tomorrowland or Adventureland, but those are immediately to your right or left as you enter the hub.
