Can you get a MYW package plus dining without buying park tickets? I am not a DVC member but have an AP.

Also, if I do get MYW package plus dining can I use the AP discount toward the room or do I have to pay rack for the room?

you have to buy at least one day of park tix for everyone in your party and you will also pay rack rate.

Just buy one day, no hopper and you are covered. It is kind of a waste, but it is the only option available to get dining.

However, perhaps you can get a package discount if discount rates come out for AP holders closer to your vacation time. We did this in 2005.

AP holders are now allowed to add dining to their stay. You will not need to buy tickets. Just call CRO and have them add the dining. You will have to purchase the plan for your full stay.

This is new for 2008 and has not been decided if it will continue into 2009.

So if you are not an AP holder or DVC member you will have to buy at least a one day MYW ticket in order to add dining to your reservation.

Have them price out two packges -- one with a discount you can get and an AP package. Then you will know what's best for you.
You could always get one day passes on your package and just use them when you renew your APs.

You can on both counts. Here's how I know.

When the AP discounts for Aug/Sept were released, I went to the WDW website, to the Passholder section to see what the rates were like during the same free dining period that our trip is booked. The promo page gave me two options: room-only or room+dining (no tickets). Here are the prices I got:

**The same room I'm getting at CSR at $99/night, total of $780 for 7 nights.
**CSR, 7 nights including DDP, $1385. That's $780 (room) + DDP for 2A/1C (~$605/7 nights) = $1385. If I were having to pay rack rate for the room with the DDP, the total would have been more than $300 more.

So, I know *for sure* that you can have an AP, book a room with the AP discount and add the DDP to it.

I had a similar calculation for WL. I had priced the free dining package there for a Woods View BB room and came up with $23XX for 7 nights. The AP package I priced was $2054 (room + dining).

PS - My free dining package at CSR is $1391, so only $6 more, and I'll get the 1-day tickets that I can use to renew my AP next time.

In addition, I checked my backlogged email and found an email from Disney Destinations, dated 3/19/08 with the following text:

Thank you sooo much!

Right now I have room only booked with a AAA discount and I crunched the numbers and it looks like I come out ahead using the DDE.

If some AP rates come out it may be more cost effective to go with the AP discount and the DDP.

It is really tough being this obessesive about vacation planning! Most folks would just book a package at rack and be done with it.

In the general population, that may well be true... on this board, not so much! For those who are truly enthusiastic about Disney, that extra obsession over saving what might end up being several hundred dollars could be the difference in how many trips they get to take between now and whenever.

In my own case this past spring, a total of seven people involved, the obsession over pricing may well have been the difference between going or not at all.
