WDW on the 4th of July...? Suggestions?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HI... :wave2:
I have never posted here before...but I have read A LOT....but have not seen an answer to my ??....
Has anyone out there been to Disney for 4th of July...?
We are getting there on July 2 - 10...and would like to hear any suggestions on the crowds...I have read that it is the busiest time of the year
(what was I thinking)...? :confused3
And that once you are in a park you shouldn't leave because they may close it down if it is filled to capacity?...is that right?...
Help ease my mind...!! Thank you...Rose...Texas :earsboy:

We'll be there on the 4th! I would just say avoid MK on the 4th. We're planning to go to Blizzard Beach and then Epcot in the evening. The fireworks at Epcot are fabulous. Have fun!

We've been to Disney a few times for 4th of July, and it wasn't that bad...not bad enough to scare us from ever going that week again!!! In fact, we'll be there July 2-14 and we can't wait!!!

Of course it will be crowded and it will be hot, but just be sure to go with a plan (but be flexible). Don't waste time looking at a park map trying to decide where you want to go next. We already know which parks we're going to on which days, and of course we have our ADRs alraedy made. We usually hit the parks early and stay til around noon or so. Then we have a nice airconditioned meal, and go back to the hotel for a nap/swim break. Then, we'll go back to the park for rides and fireworks shows. (After we've seen each of the parks' fireworks shows, we may decide to stay at the hotel and swim!!)

This is our fourth trip during that time frame, and we've never been turned away from a park. I'm not saying that it doesn't happen, but we haven't had a problem. A few times, we've gone to Magic Kingdom in the morning, and that evening, we'll do a different park. This year, we plan to be at Epcot in the morning and evening. My DD loves the special Illuminations show they do!!!

Have a great trip!!! Maybe we'll see ya there!

We've been there on the 4th before, but this year thats the day we are flying home :guilty:

What we have done in the past is stick to Epcot, its much less crowded than the MK - usually the MK fills to capacity early in the day. If you MUST go to MK, get there early and stay put.

An alternative for the fireworks is to sit on the beach at Poly, it also gets crowded but if you get there early its not too bad.

Remember they usually show all the patriotic fireworks not only on the 4th of July, but also on the 3rd of July :goodvibes

Have a great trip!!

OT - are you from Brighton, MI? That is where my uncle and aunt live!

We will be there July 2nd - 7th (check my sig.).

We were there once before during the 4th of July week.

I would still suggest taking a break during the day (afternoon) - it is way to much to try to last all day in the park.

Hi...
Thanks for the information you shared about being at Disney on the 4th...
we are going to be at EPCOT all day...I decided we will just take our time and make a day of it.
So you don't think that the parks close due to capacity..or I guess you have never experienced that, right?
Oh, and no...I don't live in Brighton..I am in Texas...:flower3:
Wel, thanks you again for the info...have a great day...Rose

Hi there...

************************************************
Thank you for the great information you wrote.
So, you have never experienced a park closing due to high catacity. That is great,...makes me feel better.
I also have planned EPCOT for the 4th...I am thinking the MK will be packed...so it is EPCOT for us the whol;e day...I think. I was thinking of going to the Coral Reef for dinner...is that in a good location so when we get out we can find a spod see the Illuminations show? I just was not sure about that.
Sorry for the 20 questions...but whatever info you can share is GREATLY appreciated!
I really can't wait to get there...it will be a blast...!!
Thanks...Rose

Hi! I am new here too! I have come across a lot of great, useful info as well! Great job! We will also be staying at Disney over the 4th of July. I think we will steer clear of MK on the 4th. I had planned on planning out each day according to what park we wanted to visit, but after making our ADR's we had to plan our days according to what ADR we could get. :)

We will be there June 26th- July 6th and have decided to brave MK that day. It will be our 2nd day at MK so we will have already done most of the major stuff so we will just go with the flow. I guess I just really want to have the experience of July 4th fireworks at MK. We have ADR's for 8am that day at Crystal Palace so we will be there early, before it has the potential of closing to capacity.

Count me in!!
We had been many times @ WDW on the 4th of july ,this year it's MGM & EPCOT

Hi. I am also new here, but have been lurking for sometime. I am also planning to be in WDW over the 4th of July. We also plan to brave MK on the 4th. Since there have been some reports of the parks closing due to being filled to capacity, I have a question regarding re-entry to the parks. It's been awhile since the last time I went to Disney, but if you enter MK early before it's filled, and leave to take a break at the resort in the afternoon, will you be allowed re-entry later that night since you were there before the park was filled?

Brighton88 - what time is your ADR at Coral Reef? As long as you are finished with dinner about 1/2 hr before Illuminations, you should be fine. You won't get a spot right up front, but you'll be able to get a spot and be able to see the fireworks just fine.

MissAllie - it is my understanding that once you leave the park, they do not "hold" a spot for you. If you leave the park and it gets closed for the day, you will not be allowed back in (even if you have an ADR or if you were in the park earlier). Sorry.

This will be our fourth trip for 4th of July - we've always had a really good time and with the right plan, you'll be fine. On two of our trips, we did MK in the morning, took our afternoon break, and then headed to Epcot. If any of the parks were closed, we didn't know about it.

Have a great trip everybody!!! Hopefully, we'll see yall around!!! :wizard:

We'll be there! This is our second 4th of July trip. We steer of MK (which did stop admitting people for awhile in the afternoon of the 4th in 2005) and spend our morning in EPCOT, afternoon in SAB, and return to EPCOT for Illuminations! We'll be at MK on the 3rd and will do the preview 4th of July that night.

Sounds like a lot of Dissers at EPCOT on the 4th!

We were in the MK on the July 4th 2005. The MK reached capacity around 1:00 at 86,000. We were in the Exhibition Hall next to a few "suits" and we heard the walkie talkies with the capacity numbers.

My son was pin trading with one of the men and we asked a few questions about how they handle the crowds. He said if the park remains closed due to capacity then the resort buses would be directed to another park. Being a resort guest does not get you into a park that has reached capacity.

We stayed at the MK the whole day. It was very crowded. We had ADRs for meals so that was nice. It was very hot that day. It was good to have a bit of a respite for the heat and the crowds. The lines for the bathrooms were extremely long. So, a word of advice is not to wait to the last minute if you have to go.;)

We decided where we were going to sit for the fireworks at about 7:30. The fireworks were amazing. We'll be at WDW again on the July 4th 2008.
