WDW - March or August?

We're considering booking BWV for part of DD6's school break from 3/6- 3/12, but DH thinks it will be too cold to enjoy the pool and waterparks.

Any feedback for March in WDW would be greatly appreciated.

Would you go beginning of March or 3rd week in August?

I don't think you will have problems swimming in March. We've used the pools when temps hit 70 in January. By March it should be drifting into the upper-70s, low-80s many days.

IMO, the decision you'll have to make is this:

March: Very high crowds, moderate weather.

August: Lower crowds, much warmer and humid (plus hurricane season.)

I'd pick March in a heartbeat. Chances are, you will have some nice pool days. Just too hot and humid in August.

Would it really be that crowded that early in March? That is when we are going as well, but according to several polls here at the DIS most people do NOT have Spring Break that week. I was hoping for low to moderate crowds!

We went late March and August this year. We found March to be a little less crowded and more pleasant temp-wise than August. Coming from MA, March may be a nice get-a-way after a long winter. Good luck!

We did WDW March 1-8th this year and it was the BEST vacation we ever had. No rain, wonderful temps, and lines were non-existent! We went on Thunder Mountain RR 3 times in a row! I'm hoping we can go back in March again after next year's September trip. Be careful because it can spoil you!! Good luck deciding!!!

We always go in March, the weather is usually perfect. We went one year in August and said never again way to hot and humid.

We always go the end of March also. This year we did an additional trip August 9-12. The weather in March is SO nice, the heat and humidity really got to us in August. Even if it's 70 degrees, the pools are usually heated, so it will feel good, no matter what. Another March vote!

I'd also choose March hands down over August. The weather in March has a great chance of being beautiful and warm, but the weather in August is almost certain to be very hot and humid.

You can see by my signature that I go often to WDW between Dec. and April. It has always been plenty warm enough for swimming, except for one trip I took in Jan. when I happened to hit a pretty cold stretch.

Yup, it would be March for me without a doubt.

Thanks - your replies have convinced DH that we can go in March, hopefully there's still availability at BWV! He was concerned that the pools wouldn't be open!

Please, please come on down in beautiful Aug. The crowds are not bad(riiight), the temp. is great(riiight) and people are sooo nice when they are waiting on line forever and it starts to rain(riiight).

100% agree with March, both for crowds and weather. If you click below (from allears.net) you can see that the beginning of March is considered to be moderate attendance. August is high attendance:

Temp-wise March should get you into the 70's, as you can see from a table below from the same site. Pools are heated, so unless your family needs to be really hot to swim, you'll get some pools days more than likely.

Of course there are no guarantees when it comes to weather, there may be a very cool or a very warm March. But August is pretty much a sure bet to be KILLER hot and humid, as well as plenty crowded.

LOL - the pools are always open (unless there is rehab work going on or one is temporarily closed because someone had "an accident" in it.

FWIW, the resort pools are all heated. There is always at least one of the waterparks open. IMHO, it is never too cold to swim, but of course, we are from Minnesota!

And I agree - March is better as long as it's not the week before or the week after Easter. Less crowded and better weather.

And here is projections for August I can't copy them but starting August 16th the max is a 7 and down to a 4 by the end. I am going last week and the highest projection is a 4. What I posted was actually crowds for this past March as you can see a lot of 7s.
