My mom will be coming to watch dd while dh and I run the half.
I am wondering how easy it is to get from Shades of Green to Epcot for the finish, as well as if it's possible to walk from SoG to Grand Floridian to catch the monorail.
If anyone has experience with this resort I'd love your input! If I remember right, the lane is fairly long from the resort to the road. I just want to make sure that if the weather isn't the best that they're not going to be "trapped" at the resort.

Thanks!

It's almost a half mile walk exactly from the fornt door to the monorail of the Poly. Your crew would be best served to cross Floridian Way before the crowd hits. Assuming the crowd starts with a 7:30 pace they would need to be on the Poly side by 6 am ish for the half and 7:10 ish for the full.

For both you and the crew, the better bet would be to walk through the Poly to the TTC; another 3/8 mile walk and catch the monorail directly to Epcot.

You're talking front door of Shades of Green is what is 1/2 mile to Poly's monorail? That's a lot closer than I thought!

So once the runners start coming by, if they haven't gotten on the poly side of the street, they will be stuck on the SoG side until the half is completely done? And conversely, once they cross to the Poly side, there will be no way to get back to SoG until after the half (and marathon) is done?

Does it get very crowded along that stretch right in front of SoG?
Thanks for all the input. Our dd just turned 2, so we're trying to figure out the most economical way to do things, yet keeping it at simple and convenient as possible for my mom incase of less than perfect weather, toddler meltdown, etc.

Thanks!

Pretty much once the masses start you are isolated on one side or the other. The fastest I have been through is just under a 9 pace and we were so crowded one could not easily/safely cross.

Looking at the results and number of falks at faster paces one could cross maybe a little later.... the issue is security has a tight reign on drives along the course.

As far as crowds, the SoG side of the course has a nice crowd. Seems to have a lot of uniformed solders out yelling for us.... Should be the other way around. So I would guess maybe 100-150 meter long crowd for SoG. The Poly side is a good quarter mile long crwod. Recently they have started fencing the non-drive areas off so it limits some of the Poly side around lanscaped areas.

With a 2yo there are many things on the Poly side to do, including playgrounds and eateries/hot chocolate. Then the monrail ride. It's a tough call at that age for sure.

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge! We're on a wait list for SoG. Still trying to decide if we should suck it up and book poly or contemporary in the meantime or just book pop...
