WDW Marathon Expo Transportation

Hi All,

If I am posting in the wrong place sorry... I thought the runners would know more about this than in the transportation category.

Our flight lands with only 3 hours to spare to get to the Expo to pick up our race stuff for the 2012 Marathon. We are staying at the GF, but from what I read on the boards, buses to the expo run ONLY from CB, POP, and the All Stars.

I can take a cab from the airport to the Expo while my husband and 3 children take the ME to the GF.... but how do I get back from the Expo to GF? With thousands of people there, a cab will be impossible. I am hoping extra buses will be running to all the resorts. Does anyone have any insight from last year?

For marathon weekend, there are buses from all the resorts to the Expo. I would be nervous about only allowing 3 hours from scheduled landing time at MCO to the close of the expo.

Buses run to and from the Expo from all WDW on-property hotels, including the GF for WDW marathon weekend in January. It is for the smaller races (Princess, W&D, etc.) that they only run from host hotels (and all the hotels are "hosts" for marathon weekend). You will not have a problem getting back to your hotel. What you may find is your bus is also stopping at a few other resorts -- we stayed at the WL last year, and our bus also stopped at the Contemporary and GF on some of our trips to/from (we went to the Expo more than once ). It really doesn't add much to your overall travel time, we found it was fine.

I would definitely take the cab from the airport to the Expo for pickup, that short window would make me nervous.

ARe you talking about the Marathon in January? If so, there will be transportation from all of the resorts.
However, I think 3 hours is cutting it way too close. What if your plane is delayed? Is there someone you know who could pick up your packet for you?

My SIL is flying in the night before. I think I will give our signed forms and copy of photo ID in case I don't make it.

By all means have her pick up your packet. There is enough pressure getting there the night before, you don't need added pressure of trying to get to the Expo.
