WDW in October vs. Hilton Head in March: a tale of two trips NEW! 10/6 p20

photopass pics from MNSSHP

Sadly, we forgot all about getting the ghost pictures by Haunted Mansion! I guess I'll have to go back!

More to come...

Don't feel bad, I was in a whirl wind on our party night and I missed so many things I wished I could have seen now.

I agree, there is so much going on during the party it is impossible to do everything! We have found something new to do each and every time and still are missing so much!
The girls were so darn cute!
Oh and you and Dave were pretty darned special too.....

If and when we move to Celebration, there will be no retirement. I'll be finding a teaching job somewhere....

I love your costumes. I actually think both of you going as mouseketters (how do you spell that?) was quite creative. I could never get Denny to dress up like that. So simple, but really cute.

The girls look great too!

Too funny you ran into Mary and her girls. I forgot all about the cast.

Love the PP pics. Very nice.

Thanks again for the heads up on the Celebration Tavern. I think we will try it. You had me at cheap beer. :rotfl:

Sheree! We were in MK the same day. I think we left around 6 to get to our 'Ohana reservation. I am so, so super bummed that we didn't meet up this trip. :(

I love your costumes! :thumbsup2 Was it still pretty warm that evening?

I forgot all about the new queue at the Haunted Mansion until after we went through. Looks fun!

Signing on! Looks great so far. We go to HHI for the 1st time this July- can't wait to hear how it went for you!

I remember that happening to us at MVMCP too. Oh well, I'll go back!

Thanks, you and Marc were fabulous!!

Awesome pics! :goodvibes
Thanks! I've got more!

Thanks, we'd actually used the shirts the year before at a neighborhood costume party. None of our friends were surprised. I was happy to see Mary and the girls - they are SO CUTE! It made things that much more fun! The girls have never really had kids their age to pal around with at WDW.
You would like Celebration - lots to photograph and good food and cheap beer! Worked for me! ::yes::

Oh man! I can't believe we missed an opportunity to meet in person! Shoot! I feel bad that we didn't think to exchange numbers beforehand. :sad2:
Thanks on the costumes. We were very comfortable most of the evening. I thought it was pretty warm and worried Paige would be too hot with the long sleeves and a hat, but she kept it on.
Yeah, the HM queue is fun - our line wasn't very long, but if it was, that makes for a fun way to kill time.

:welcome: It's nice to have you hear. I hope I can get this moving so I can tell you about HHI before you go! I'm trying to have it all done before our August trip. But in the meantime, if you have any questions about HHI, I'm happy to answer anything I can.

Great MNSSHP pics. Looks like you were having lots of fun and very short lines!!

Thanks Shelly. It was great - I can't remember having such short lines and warm weather! Usually it's only one or the other!

MNSSHP continued...

We were lucky enough to get to visit the “Dress Rehearsal” for the new Fantasyland! We were so excited – it was open, and there was hardly anyone around since it was a party night!

Check out the "new" castle wall.

First we headed to Belle’s cottage for some Enchanted Tales! This place is so beautifully themed!! I took LOTS of pictures. We were in line with a mom and adult daughter who were so cute and fun. The daughter was dressed as Belle in her blue dress and the mom was a chef. They were a hoot.

Up behind you can see the castle!

So, by now I’m sure most of you know how this works. First you enter the cottage and it's just like Belle and Maurice live there!
Sorry, I have some issues with lighting and flash apparently.

The little growth chart lines are in French, of course!

Our "friend Belle"

Sarah was just about right on at 12!

Paige too at 10!

Then you go into Maurice’s workshop,

pass through the magical mirror wall,

and have a visit with the Wardrobe to select the “cast” for the show with Belle.

Sarah was chosen to play Phillipe!!

The chef mom was chosen to play something – I think a picture frame? Something funny for sure. It was cute.
Then we stepped into the library and we were seated on benches to watch the show. Lumiere was amazing! Best animatronic ever I think! I wish I had a better picture!

Belle came in and everyone played their part.

They gave us a special photopass card and each cast member got to pose with Belle at the end of the show. ALL the pictures were on the PP card, not just Sarah's. We also got bookmarks.
From Photopass:

That's the Beast/prince

cont. in next post...

Our "Friend the Chef"

Then we noticed that the bridge to Be Our Guest was open and we were invited in to take a peek around at parts of it! They weren't open for serving food yet though.

I think this is where you order at lunch?

I'm not sure if we did the next couple things in this order, but who really cares, right? You just want to see the pictures!

Wandering down the path past "town", the quiet village, we found Ariel greeting guests in her grotto, so we walked right in there with no wait at all!

Then we wandered into “town” and stopped in Gaston’s Tavern for a brew. LeBouf’s Brew, that is. It’s like a frozen apple juice slushie topped with marshmallow cream. I thought it was okay, Dave really liked it. I guess I don’t love apple juice that much, so I probably wouldn’t have loved it anyway.
I'm pretty sure I have pictures of the Tavern somewhere from a different day. Stay tuned...

There is a nice gift shop with some really unique special B&tB themed items.

We finished our drinks and saw Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip greeting guests near the entrance to new FL – by that new castle “wall”. They had a short line, so we had a visit with them

I think she asked Sarah if Paige was a nice kitty or a mean kitty or something like that!

THEN we went to ride the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. What a COOL ride! We had no wait, just the time it took to walk through the very long queue!! It would be nice if there was a long wait, since a lot of it is shaded and it’s interactive.

I apologize, these are really bad pictures! Maybe I have better ones on another day!

We were able to peek at the area where they were building the 7 dwarves mine train, but it was hard to figure out what it would be like in the end.

So, since it was the MNSSHP, we did some trick or treating too! They had stations set up all around the park and they handed out handfuls of candy to all of us! Some was good stuff, some not so wonderful. But we got LOTS!

Next it was time to visit the circus – Storybook Circus! We rode Dumbo (love it when there’s no line!) and the girls and Dave rode the Barnstormer.
I didn't take a lot of pictures, since it was dark now. Like I've been saying, I am fairly sure I took more during daylight another day.

Then we trick or treated our way down the path to Tomorrowland and rode Buzz Lightyear – Yup, it was a WALK ON too!!
I think this was from the pathway.

Finally it was time to see some fireworks! We found a spot over by Casey’s sort of under a tree by the bathrooms. LOVED Hallowishes!!!
Sorry, no pictures this time! For me, it's more fun to just sit and enjoy!

More MNSSHP still to come!

Cute picture! Love it!

Wow - you really got a great Fantasyland preview complete with getting to see BOG. It was not open the evening we where there. It just looks so absolutely cool inside.

How great that Sarah got picked for a part. :thumbsup2

That guy looks like the perfect Beast/Prince combo.

Cute costumes on your new mother-daughter friends!

Fun update. Great evening. More please.......

Loving your new fantasyland pictures. I was a picture frame too. LOL

I am kicking myself for not coming back for MNSSHP. :sad2: Bad choice.

How neat that the bridge to Be Our Guest was open! It wasn't earlier in the day. How pretty! The girls sure look cute in their costumes and based on their smiles, you can tell they are having so much fun! :)

Great update! :goodvibes
Well, thank you very much!

Thanks! We didn't get to see ALL of BOG, but I was happy to see what we did! Sarah was happy to be part of the show, but not thrilled to be a horse.
More is coming...

Thanks Jen - I have got to get over and read your TR! If only I didn't need to sleep and work, I would have enough time for Disney fun!

Oh, we would have had fun with you at MNSSHP! Another trip maybe?
I think they opened the new area for the party because it would be less people. It was so fun! The kids just loved the party!

More party fun coming up!

I think during this time we started exchanging texts with Anita (Wigdoutdismom). Trying to meet up to watch the parade together.

We looped around and hit the trick or treat stations in Adventureland and Frontierland. I had never been in the queue area of Splash Mtn. before (since I’ve never ridden it). Very cute! The 7 dwarves were greeting guests back there, but the line was very long and we had people to meet for the parade!!

We passed through the Riverboat for yet MORE candy and headed to the Hall of Presidents where Anita and Marc had a prime viewing spot. Mary and her girls were there too, so the kids parked on the curb and us adults acted like we’d been friends for years! It was so great to finally meet them in person. I didn’t get a lot of good pictures due to the lighting, but did get the coveted shot of the Headless Horseman!

And amazingly, we remembered to take a picture with our DIS friends to document our meeting.

I think Mark and Dave must have been behind the cameras since they weren't in any pictures! I also don't seem to have pictures of the kids together that night!!

Unfortunately, Anita and Marc were leaving the next day, so they weren’t going to be at our BIG DISmeet later on in the trip.

We said goodbye to them after the parade and Mary and the girls, Cayley and Avery headed back to Storybook Circus. The girls wanted to ride Barnstormer more, and Cayley needed an adult to ride – so Dave took them all! Mary and I gathered some more candy and chatted while we waited for them to ride.
It was about 11:30 and I still needed to do some MNSSHP shopping, so we headed out to Main St. and shopped for T-shirts, pins and whatever else caught my eye! One of the t-shirts turned out to be a child sized, which I discovered once we were home, so that got passed down to Sarah! I also got the purchase with purchase blanket. One can never have too many Disney blankets!!

Finally we headed out to the bus stop. We had to wait, but were able to get seats. Right next to a boy named Bucky from Alabama. Yes, his given name is Bucky. He talked the WHOLE way home!!! We had more Bucky later in the trip and we still discuss him at home!
I actually took these the next morning but check out the TREATS!!

Sorted:

Okay, I know that was 1) a ridiculous amount of candy and 2) a ridiculous amount of pictures of said candy. But this update had very few pictures otherwise! And you can see there was some really good candy in there. Some not so great, but if there's Twix, I'm happy! :)

We finally got to bed at 1:15 a.m.!! But what an awesome night at MK!!!!

Brooklynn was almost to the nine year old mark on Belle's height marker, and she won't be seven until August. We're hoping she'll slow down a little sometime soon. Jill has one giant girl one tiny girl, and hopefully Sophie will just fall somewhere in the average category.

And amazingly, we remembered to take a picture with our DIS friends to document our meeting.

So glad you got to meet and that you got a picture. I have met 2/3 of this group - both so nice! I need to meet the other 1/3 sometime!

How thoughtful of Dave. :)

Nice for Sarah! :thumbsup2 You owe yourself a replacement t-shirt next time. :goodvibes

I also got the purchase with purchase blanket. One can never have too many Disney blankets!!

So true. ::yes::

Wow! Candypolooza! :woohoo: That IS a ridiculous amount of candy. I see the girls were hard at work or did you and Dave help out too? I am sure Cynthia and I had no where close that amount, but then again there WERE only two of us.

So cool that you got to meet Anita and I love her costume! Also so fun that you guys got to spend so much time with Mary and the girls.

Bucky from Alabama? Can't wait to hear about your paths crossing again! :rolleyes1

Nice Haul! My boys were not impressed with the amount I brought home for them :lmao:

Very fun updates, I love that you explored the cottage more, I didn't see the growth chart on the wall, what a fun detail, I love those pictures of the girls. You really had some wonderful character interaction at the party :thumbsup2 and I love that you got to meet Anita, Marc and Mary!

GREAT shot of the headless horseman!
