I usually hate these kinds of threads, who can predict the weather or the crowd levels 4 or 5 months out? But I'm curious to know, generally what it's like in May, particulary the begining of May. Does anyone know how warm it gets in May, if there is typically a lot of rain fall and historically how heavy are the crowds. We're loosely planning on going May 2-9, we've been to WDW in the winter, summer, and fall, but never spring, there's a first for every thing! If anyone could help with your past experiences, I'd appreciate it. TIA

May is my absolutely favorite month to go. The weather is swimming hot but not unbearably hot. The parks are not crowded. I think that the longest that we waited in line was 15 minutes and that was only for 1 ride, otherwise all lines were 5 minutes or less. We did not have 1 day of rain but you really can't predict those things. Even if it does rain (correct me if I'm wrong, Floridians), it usually does not last the entire day. Hope this helps. Have a great time!

I have heard that May is one of the months with less rainy days. I know over the summer, it seems to rain between 1:30 and 4:00 in the afternoon. What time of day does it usually rain in May?

Thanks in advance,

Last May we went from the 12th to the 17th and it was hot!!!! Make plans to have a pool day or visit a water park..You will need a break from the heat!!! If it makes you feel better we are going from Apr 27- May 2. Yes, it was hot last May ,but, the parks were not crowded and we had really nice weather ,no rain at all!!!

Have fun!!! :wave2:

I went last year May 16-21 and it was extremely hot... Like low to mid 90s, which for someone from up north is hot in May!! Having been in Feb. and Sept. mostly, I found the crowds larger but not too bad. By the afternoon, many rides had 30+-minute waits at the MK, but I was too hot to want to wait anyway!! The good thing was that, except for a quick burst of rain during one afternoon, it was sunny and clear.

Hope you have a great time!!

Happy planning,
Sarah

We have made the trip during the second week in May for the past four years. It is very hot (mid 90's) and humid. Not much rain at all. In fact, I don't recall any. The lines at the parks are not bad at all. MK was the worst. I know that last year we waited 45-min or more for a couple of the kid rides. And the heat was terrible. Or maybe it was because I had a 3-yr. old strapped across my chest nearly the old time. Thank god for It's a Small World to give us a break from the heat. The character lines are pretty long as well at MK. I would recommend getting what autographs you could from the other parks. MGM was crowded also, however the lines for the rides were not that bad. As for Universal and IOA you will not have any problems. The lines are very short. Especially, if you arrive early. We rode all the rides at IOA in about 2 hours (Spider Man and the Hulk- 4 times each). If you can handle the heat I would definitely recommend early May. I would invest in one of the cool water "mist" sprayers. We are heading down this May (8-15) also! Can’t wait!:hyper:

My favorite months are May and Sept. Both are hot, but May seemed to be slightly better temperatures. We've also experienced some days of rain in both months. Hit or miss, no way to know until it happens. Our next trip coming up is May 2-12! We'll be wearing our DIS t-shirts and/or pins and I'll be the one with lime green ribbons tied to the front and back of my waist pouch!
