Just wondering if anyone has been to WDW in May before and what the weather was like?
Everyone on the other threads keep saying it will be hot but when I convert the temps they are saying it's doesn't sound that bad. I'm a QLDer so I'm used to a bit of heat or will it really be as bad as everyone is saying?

As you can see from my ticker I haven't been in May before, but I have family in America who have been there at various times from May to August over the years.
May is apparently not too "bad" with warm temps but nothing that the average Northern Australian can't handle. As opposed to July and August which just about everyone agrees is the hottest time of all. I'm a Sep visitor most times, and the occasional hot day combined with the incredible humidity make that bad enough, much less the couple of months beforehand.
Besides that's why they have 2 waterparks, and all the resorts have awesome pools!!!!!!

I've been in mid May and late May and both trips were HOT! 35 degrees type hot.

However earlier in the month is slightly less (still over 30) and humidity was fine. Late May/early June was scorching - 35+ every day and the humidity was starting to build - quite a few uncomfortable moments.

My first May trip I stayed off site and my main problem was being stuck in the park all day long - walking around on hot concrete - no shade - esp. Epcot.
My second trip May/June trip we stayed at CR and BC - so close to the parks. Went early in the morning, came out at midday. slept, shopped, lunched, relaxed in the hottest part of the day. Went back in for dinner/after dinner for the night. Much better.

Thanks for the responses! I guess it's the humidity I'll need to watch out for. We recently, well early February, did a trip up to Townsville and was surprised how bad the humidity was but we survived lol Made appreciate the weather once I was home. We are staying at Pop Century so if it gets too bad I guess we can always go 'home' for a while :) Last time I went it was freezing so am just trying to workout what to pack, am guessing no thick coats this time lol

gee Snickals - when you write last time was freezing, where those the dates showing in your ticker - end Nov / early Dec?
I ask cause I am going 28 Nov - 10 Dec this year and am wondering just how cold you feel it got?

We went last May and while it was hot, it wasn't unbearable. The humidity was bearable too. I'd say Gold Coast-Sunshine Coast in summer humid. I'm in western Sydney so mostly we get drier heat.

I found it hottest the day we went to Seaworld. There is barely any shade compared to the parks at WDW. I realized at Seaworld why there are so many trees and so much greenery at Disney.

We too are looking at going in May, and also went last Nov,Early Nov and the weather was really really nice. No humidity at all and the highest it got to was 29C. Most of the time it was 22-26 so I would recommend this time for sure.

This next visit is however in May and really dont want it to be too hot.

We went in May of 2009. It rained HORRIBLY...CRAZY horribly for nearly the entire time. The sun NEVER did come out, and thank GOD! When the rain stopped, it sure didn't take long to heat up, and we were sooooo thankful for the cloud cover, otherwise we would have been miserable! We went during the last week of May, so maybe earlier would be a little less hot? haha, I hope so, because we will be there for the last week of April into the first couple of days of May this year!

However, I went the first weekend of October in 2011 and it was the most perfect, amazing, weather ever! Not a single cloud the whole time, NO humidity, wasn't hot but just perfect shorts and t-shirt weather. Also, besides the crowd for the 40th anniversary, the crowd levels were LOW too!

COLD! lol I remember watching the local news on TV there and them saying they were experiencing record lows for that time of the year. It was freezing early morning and late afternoon/night time. I had thermal leggings and long sleeve shirt under my jeans and t-shirt and a jacket on top with a beanie and gloves and still felt it. But by mid morning it turned nice and I was able to loose a few layers and happily get around in just the jeans and tshirt. Except for when it rained (only rained once the whole time though) during the day, that was also freezing!

It was a great time to go though. The crowd levels were wonderfully low, except my first day at DHS which was crazily packed but the rest of the time was great with hardly any wait times for things. And all the holiday decorations and events are just so magical  Makes me want to go back in December again!

Thanks for all the advice everyone regarding the heat...although it's making me a little scared now :scared:

Don't be worried :goodvibes

You are a Queenslander, you will be be fine with the temps and humidity :thumbsup2.

Actually I think your main problem will be the cold. The cold from the air conditionning... in the buses. OMG, it can be FREEZING on those buses :rotfl: If the buses are full then it's not so bad but if you get a partially empty bus, that we would have regularly going to and from AKL, gosh, we would run for the back seat, because the back seat seats are warm from the engine, so they would warm us up. 30 degrees outside, -30 inside (:rotfl: no not that bad but it sure was cold). And in the resorts too, sometimes they really keep their aircon cranked to freezing :rotfl:

snickals it looks like we have each found our fav time to go - you will probably be more comfortable in the heat and humidity - and well - I'm from Canberra - I already own plenty of the appropriate clothing. :lmao:

I was there in May last year for Star Wars weekend and it was HOT!! Just remember to drink water and have a hat. You will be fine but just be prepared for the heat.

It can go either way because when we got there some CMs were telling us this was the first really hot weather. The week before we got there was just nice.

Of course we arrive right when a heat wave started :rotfl2:
