WDW in December

We were there for the first two weeks in 2007 and it was warm enough to swim in the hotel pool. We didn't go to a water park but it would have been warm enough.

I think last year was a really cold winter so someone who has been more recently might be able to add more on the weather. I think you just need to be prepared for anything really, wind, rain or shine :goodvibes

I didn't use sunscreen but I don't seem to ever need to use sunscreen in Orlando although I would need it on a sunny day in Scotland (rare as they are!) :confused3 I'd cover my little man in sunscreen regardless though just in case.

The crowds were really low when we were there - I think the longest queue we stood in was about 30 minutes for Soaring. :thumbsup2

I hope that helps a little.

Never been early Dec as I am in retail I can't go until after I close Xmas eve but we have been 5 times late Dec, I would expect similar.
Really you can't know until you get there, our 1st visit in Dec was so cold, hats, scarves, gloves all day had to de-ice car every morning, very cold but sunny with it. In more recent years we have had better temps, some nice some cold days. Best was Dec 08 lovely just about every day.
We take clothes for every type of weather, hats, longs, winter coats, gloves right thru to shorts & Tshirts.
Can't help with crowds, late Dec are worst of the year.

We've been those exact weeks 2007 and 2009.

2007 was unusually hot 80 degrees. I can remember the tv weather commenting that it was near record levels for the time of year. So shorts and t shirts all the way.

2009 was more mixed. Most days were warm - like a typical summer day in Lancashire. I wore linen trousers or 3/4 jeans and a t shirt, hubby shorts and a t shirt. Hoody was needed early morning and evening. Locals were commenting how cold it was - wearing hats & gloves! We swam alot just one day I passed as I thought it was too cold. I can also remember a couple of hot days towards the end.

I can't remember any rain 2007. 2009 we had a couple of really rainy days when we were in Epcot - it was cold rain and carried on and off most of the day, so not the usual quick afternoon rainstorm you get in summer.

In my opinion it is a lovely time to go. The weather is good for touring parks and all the xmas decorations are up.

It got noticably busier the nearer to xmas you got. On a couple of days they film the MK xmas parade for tv, apparently it is packed, we just avoided the MK those days.

Also i'd read horror stories about pop warner kids running wild first week December. We stayed at all star movies but there weren't big gangs of kids - just noticed one small group of well behaved cheerleaders. Didn't notice them in the parks.

Hope that helps.

Its a difficult choice, we by far prefer hot temps, cold does spoil it a little but Dec is a special time of year to be there. The Xmas decs are well worth seeing, we spend a lot of time just going around the resorts, great to see.

If you have a search on here you can usually see which resorts they are staying at.

As I understand it pop warner are a sports organisation for children. In the day time they will be busy playing football/cheerleading at the sports complex so not in the parks.

Most complaints i've seen were about kids being noisy back at the hotel.

Think it was AS sports and port orleans last year so moderates aren't safe!

Don't let it put you off. We saw nothing that would make us avoid that time of year.

Only reason for October this year is DD is starting school so stuck with school hols.

Xmas time is magical. All the decorations and extra's like the osborne lights. Make sure to visit the hotels eg gingerbread house and tree at Grand Floridian.

Crowds were very light and weather makes it possible to get so much done.

I would highly recommend it as a great time to go. We had previously been in August/Sept when it was silly hot and I really appreciated being able to wander around the parks comfortably without melting into a wee puddle :) The Christmas decorations are amazing, and listening to Christmas music in the parks is fanastic and really makes you feel very, very festive :goodvibes As the song goes 'it's the most wonderful time of the year' The decorations in the hotels are gorgeous too This is my trippie from 2007 if you fancy a peek :goodvibes
