I think "High Test" gas was about .31 cents a gal back then too

I think "High Test" gas was about .31 cents a gal back then too
Let's look at some other prices for comparison:

Cost of a new home: $28,300.00
Cost of a new car: $1,866.00 (Datsun 1200 Sports Coupe)
Median Household Income: $9,028.00
Average Monthly Rent $150.00
Cost of a gallon of regular gas: $0.36
Cost of a dozen eggs: $0.53
Cost of a gallon of Milk: $1.18
Ladies 2 piece knit suit $9.98
United States postage Stamp 8 cents
Movie Ticket $1.50

Woah.I wish the prices were still low like that :p

FUNNY PART IS I WAS THERE IN 1971 AND I WAS A WHOLE 18 YRS OLD GOING BACK (6TH TIME) THIS NOV CAN'T WAIT. PRICES JUST A LITTLE DIFFERENT:scared:

My parents took me and my brother to WDW in April of 1972. We stayed at the Contemporary for 3 nights...it was SO cool! Everything was brand new and so modern. To this day my mom talks about the mariachi band that used to roam the hotel halls. Our room was huge! I remember thinking this must be costing a fortune. I even got to go horseback riding and received the WORST sunburn of my life. Now I know why my mother just about passed out when I told her how much it was going to cost for us to visit WDW this year!

If I recall, the price of gas was about .19 cents for a gallon and price wars you could find it for as little as .09 a gallon. I was driving a Dodge Corenett 440 at that time. You could fill a 25 galon tank for under 5.00 bucks. How times have changed.

I think they should have an unadvertised deal of the same prices 50 years later, but only for opening day (one day). That way it won't be mobbed and close people out that would be there anyway.

I also was 18 in 1972. We went the 1st time in February. That's where the term "E" ticket comes from because the book of tickets were ranked A to E, something like the Haunted Mansion would be an E, the trolley down Mainstreet would be an A or B. I remember my sister and I were constantly begging Dad for money to buy extra E tickets. And there really wasn't that much there. Today you can go for a week and still not have time to do everything. When you take today's prices in account, it's not that bad for what you get.

I wasn't born yet....but born in the same decade. WOWSERS!!!! CAn you imagine what it must've been like???? DEF. no DISers back then!!!!:rotfl2:

And the higher the letter the fewer there were in the book! So in order to do all the E rides you had to have several books of tickets. I still have partial books somewhere that have lower letter tickets in them.

I like how they had "child" (3-11), "junior" (12-17) and "adult" (18+) pricing in 1971. It would be nice if they brought that back, although I realize they make WAY more money by considering 10 year olds to be "adults"...

Is there a thread for discontinued rides, attractions and shows or, in other words, the Ghost of Disney Past? I have some pictures of the parade that Epcot use to have and I'd love to post them and see other pictures of events that we may have enjoyed but have been discontinued. I don't want to start this thread if there is one already.
