Hi Everyone,
Well I am very excited to say my DD(16) has just won the national cheerleading championships in Brisbane, as a result we are off to WDW in April 2012.:cheer2:
Being a bit of a Disney freak, I am so excited to be going back, still working out details but looks like we will be in WDW from 25/4 to 30/4. Competition is in WDW and the athletes stay at one of the value resorts. Not sure about this would love to stay back at the Contemporary or Poly but figure I am probably best to stay close to DD.
We had a wonderful holiday in 2008 at the Contemporary, had the full meal plan and also spent some time at the HRH in Universal, would love to do that again as well.:thumbsup2
So after not being on here for some time, I think I am ready to start having a love affair with Disboards all over again. I look forward to meeting everyone and exchanging tips and information:)

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:Congrats to your daughter that is great news and how awesome that it includes another Disney trip:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

That's great. :thumbsup2
I often feel too sad to come onto DIS when I don't have a trip planned.

Let's see if I can convince my daughter to join cheerleaders !!

Great to see you back on here Gogo and a big congrats to your daughter. That is really exciting, and what a great way to go to Disney again :thumbsup2.

I look forward to reading the plans.

Wow, a massive congratulations to your DD :cheer2:! That is just so exciting! :yay:

And exciting for you, getting a trip to WDW. What am amazing opportunity for your DD's team to go to the US to compete and what better place to compete than WDW. I remember seeing an episode of "Cheer Moms" a few months ago and their team went to WDW to compete. It looked like such a fun trip for the kids (and the parents looked like they were having a ball too).

Congratulations to your DD :cheer2:! How exciting. what a fantastic opportunity

Thankyou everyone for your warm welcome back, its nice to see some familiar faces and newbies too!:thumbsup2
I agree about not coming onto the disboards when there is no holiday to look forward to. I was fortunate to have a day in Paris Disney this year, with my best friend:cool1:
But WDW is my favourite place on earth, love love love it:love:
In a sense it is a little disappointing not being able to plan everything how I want it, but I know we will have an amazing time,
As for my daughter, she will compete with her club team at Daytona beach and also compete at WDW as Team Australia, I am hopng she will be able to enjoy it and not be too stressed.

So now I have less than 5 months to plan a holiday, last time we went to WDW it took me over a year to plan, :scared1:
Let the fun begin...

Congrats to your daughter on winning. Congrats to you for your daughter! :thumbsup2

Let the planning begin!

Congratulations to your daughter, what a fantastic achievement! Great reason or a trip.

We fly out on the 25th so I'll just miss you but from the research I've done you'll certainly have lower crowds.

Oh wow - that cheerleading stuff is amazing! Congrats to your daughter.

You'll have a wonderful trip - regardless of what arrangements happen around the competition

So we have some progress.
Our flights are all booked.
Leaving Sydney 16th April, via Dallas, arrive in Orlando but going straight to Daytona Beach for 9 days of beach and relaxation. The girls compete here on the beach just for fun. Then off to WDW on the 25th april, we have 3 days prior to comp for the girls to train and do the parks, then competition 28/29th April, we have then decided to stay another 2 nights and leave on Wednesday 2/5. Just to have another 2 full days to enjoy, my DD loved IOA at Universal so will probably spend a day there.
So not as much time in WDW as I would like but 7 days is not to bad, I cant stay any longer as DD is in Year 12 at school, so she really cant afford to miss any more days:mad:
So now to start organising a few things, maybe make a reservation or two for meals and decide exactly what the priorities are

7 days is indeed better than nothing and I'm sure you will pack lots of food and fun into those days.

You'll have a ball.

What a great reason to be travelling to Disney World!! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear more about your planning :cool1:

Congratulations to your daughter. What a great opportunity. Hope she does really well.
My dd does cheerleading also although she has only been there 6 months. She's just made the junior squad but its going to take some arranging as training clashes with her ballet classes that she has been doing for over 5 years.
