Hi, all! My wife and I are planning on running the half marathon in Jan 2012, and I have a couple questions about park admission.

I've heard that the full marathon includes a day's park admission, if you display your medal. Is this true for the half marathon?

Also, where does the half marathon end -- is it inside or outside of Epcot? (See how that tied into the first question? If inside the park, we wouldn't need separate admission!)

I'm just trying to figure out our park ticket needs, and I'm hoping that Disney will pick up a day! :)

I ran the half marathon this year, and did not get a free admission ticket. Also, the run ends in the Epcot parking lot, so no luck there, sorry! :)

You got a one day one park ticket for Marathon Monday if you ran the full Marathon or the Goofy. The ticket was only good for Monday - not any other day and you did not have to show your medal, just the ticket. Those who only run the half marathon do not get that benefit.

So let me hijack Doug's thread and ask this:

Are there discounted park admission tickets for before and after marathon weekend for the runner and their party (similar to what's offer for the W&D Half)? And if so, do you have to call for them? I didn't get a password/code like I did when I registered for the W&D.

Hijack away! That's a great question.

Nope. Tickets are full price, and until they officially announce Marathon Monday for 2012, I'm not counting on that happening again this time around.

Yes - but the discount is not that great. You will get the code a lot closer to the race...but what may work out better for you is to get the Park Hopper for the W&D with the no expiration feature and add on the additional days you may want to use it for the future. Since prices just went up, you may end up getting the lower price for those which would be a better value anyway.

Actually (looking at the question as I read it) for the marathon weekend, no, not through the Marathon or through Disney. For the other race weekends, yes, usually. Since 99 there has only been the one Marathon Monday freebie offered for the 2011 race. I am doubtful that happens again this year...hoping that they do offer it but not counting on it.
