WDW Golf camp for kids....FINALLY we go to a park!

Hi,
I just found your trip report today. I think it's great that you and your sons were able to take a trip together. And you even got a little time to yourself. I have 3 kids also and I know that doesn't happen very often. Thank you for taking the time to write out this report and post your pictures. Even when I can't go to Disney, I like to read about other's experiences. :thumbsup2

Thanks for reading. It was nice to get away and have some quiet time. I would have liked a little more time for Disney stuff but it all worked out.

Oh my gosh! I'm so glad I found your trip report. I didn't know such a golf camp existed. How did you find out about it or where can I get information about it? My 9dd would LOVE this!! Although I would worry about her being on her own. What do you think, is my worry misplaced? She will be 10 by next summer. My dh golfed Magnolia in December 2008 and I know he would like to go again sometime. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.

I would not worry at all about her. They only take 32 kids and have 4 counselors. I think most of the kids were 10 or 11. There were a few girls there. I am sure they are very well supervised. You know how Disney is. :thumbsup2 They teach them alot about golf etiquette and such. My boys learned a lot about the mechanics of golf and the rules etc. I did notice one dad did golf a couple of times while his daughter was at camp.

Here is the link for this years camps http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/golf/youth/

I was just researching golf at WDW and saw this.

Hope this helps. My boys are sad they will be too old to do the camp again. But I did notice they have tournaments for 14 and up. Maybe next year....:woohoo:

It's fun for me to read about you and your boys...it seems you have great relationships with them. :goodvibes I hope I have that with my boys when they are teens and can maybe take them on trips without their dad sometimes and have fun like you did!

That is crazy about the AIE lady and the boy with her going to the same school as your boys!

We did AIE in June for the first time. It was my dh's one thing he really wanted to do. lol I enjoyed it too though, it was interesting to see how it works.

MMM, that Butterfinger cupcake sounds good (after it was warmer!)

"After listening to the two of them argue for 18 holes I was ready to leave." :rotfl: Ahh, BROTHERS!!

Awww, the ducks are so cute!! :goodvibes

Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us, your report was great!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Hey I was reading your report and wanted to comment but I have real spotty internet that kept crashing. Ugh technology. Loved your trip report.
I didn't know there was a golf camp there! Too bad my brother is too old now, I would have loved the excuse to take another vacation there. My brother is obsessed with golf. Literally every day he is golfing and he caddies on the weekends. Him and my dad have golfed on our last two trips and loved it so I'm sure your husband and sons will love it too. =)

I just wanted to let you know that I followed and enjoyed your trip report. I think there are a lot of lurkers like myself who do not always comment, but enjoy reading people's reports.

Oh! I just wanted to say I had to hunt down the Christopher Walken you tube video- I think it's HILARIOUS that your boys are doing him!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I forgot to include a funny story. At one point on TOT they say something in a scary voice then they repeat it in Spanish doing the scary voice. We had never noticed that before and for some reason it got us going. :lmao:Then the boys started repeating it in a scary Christopher Walken voice and that just cracked me up. :rotfl2: Maybe you had to be there but it had us laughing.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I don't know how to put multiple quotes on one reply so this will have to do. It is very depressing being computer stupid. I was so proud of myself figuring out photobucket :rotfl:

I found a picture of the butterfinger cupcake at DHS. They are huge in real life and I am obsessed by them. I want to figure out how to make them. They have a gooey center then a mound of frosting that is coated with the crunched up butterfingers. They are the best.

Is transportation included in the golf camp or did you have to take the boys each day and pick them up? When my DH golfed last year it included a taxi to and from the course. Do you mind me asking where you stayed and did you think it was good distance and time wise from the course?

Thanks for the link! I am so excited. I showed it to my DH and he said "But we'd have to go in July, it's hotter than H--L in July!" :rotfl: He was pleased with the price though so I am sure it'll give him something to think about!

Transportation is not included. That would make it perfect. We always rent a car anyway so for us it wasn't a problem. I picked them up by 4 everyday but it says in the description thing that if you are going to be later to let them know but that no one will be supervising your kids if you go after 4:30 to get them. The boys were so tired afterwards that they did not do any parks so you do save money there. But it does cut into the parks time for everyone else.

We are DVC members and stayed at Saratoga Springs. We left the room each morning at 8:30 and would get to the camp at about 8:50. They meet at Shades of Green so it is just a little past the Polynesian.

The cost of the camp is the best deal at Disney. It included lunch every day. Plenty of water and Powerade. The goody bag they received at the beginning had at least a $100 worth of stuff in it. If you go by Disney prices :rotfl2:

By the way, thanks for the post. It put me at 3 pages :banana::banana:

Oooooh, wow, that looks good!!! :goodvibes

Thinking of your report, I made an off hand mention today to my brother about how he could have done a golf camp at Disney while I was driving him and a friend to golf, and he got upset that he hadn't found it till he was too old. Especially since we aren't sure when we are going next, between my hint dropping about wanting to go to Disney as an 18th bday present/graduation present and him finding a golf camp we totally could have gotten a trip in. Aw too bad. Maybe my brother will find a camp in Hawaii...that would be nice as well. :rotfl:

They do have golf tournaments thru June and part of July. It is for 14 - 18 year olds. Would that be good enough for your brother to get you all there?

Thanks for the report. We are considering the golf camp for DD when she gets old enough!! I agree the price is VERY reasonable. One quick question, I noticed that you said you paid for extra bag fee when you checked your luggage in. I have not flown since the new fees were added and I wasn't sure how this worked. Were you able to pay cash when you checked your luggage in?

At the airport you can but when you are leaving WDW they give you a number to call and you pay with a credit card and they give you a confirmation number then they will check your bag. I don't know for sure but I seriously doubt they let you pay case at the resort.

Hope this helped.

Thanks so much!! Your report was great - it really sounded like a great week!!
