So my first time there is coming quick, what is the FIRST ride I should do? It will be just my wife and me. We've been to WDW, so let that influence your choice. I'd like to do a ride that sets DL apart from WDW.

Indiana Jones or Space Mountain. Then you'll realize how much better DL is than MK.

Enchanted Tiki Room (Under Walt Disney's Management) is also much better at DL.

If you like pineapple, try a Dole Whip at the Tiki Juice Bar. :thumbsup2

we'll be getting there at rope drop :)

If it's not a MM day, I would go straight to Finding Nemo. Someone suggested Indy but you can easily get a FP for that later. I would then do Fantasyland. Since you are WDW vets, if the line for Peter Pan is too long, (and it will be no FP for Peter) skip it.

Is Finding Nemo the submarine ride? My wife is really interested in doing that ride.

Space Mountain, the sub, Matterhorn, Indy, Mr. Toad, then Small World. Grab a corn dog from the cart.

Yes. no fastpass for this ride. I would go directly to that ride and then begin collecting fastpasses for the other E ticket rides. Read Hydroguys sticky about how to collect fastpasses.

I say pirates of the caribbean...DL version KICKS DW version...before our first trip, i kept telling my kids my memories of pirates...got to DW, went on it, and all heard from the kids was "is that it"...they hated it, thought it was boring and we never went on it again...Went to DL, decided to try it, and we rode it numerous times...they loved it...i think space is better at DL too....Space mountain is always our first ride, actually, our first 3 (we do it a few times) :cool1:

We are WDW vets that just visited DLR for the first time. My first choice for you would definitely be ...

Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage

The line for this rides gets long pretty quickly. You really need to be in the first or second sub of the day to not wait for 30/40 minutes first thing of the day. I can't express enough that this is a "must" for first thing in the morning or expect to wait at least an hour later on. Once you get this one under your belt, the rest of the park is a breeze. They offer FP for Space Mountain and Indy. So, those can wait for later. IMO. Do the non-FP rides first like Nemo and Matterhorn Bobsleds (right next to each other), then start collecting the FPs. ;)

We loved the PoTC version at DLP. I totally agree with the previous post. It IS definitely better than the MK version. After riding Nemo and Matterhorn, I would run over and get a FP for Space Mountain. Then, pop over to Adventureland to get a FP for Indy on your way to PoTC. We found the PoTC line to move very quickly and never had more than a 20 minute wait our whole visit. Personally, we didn't like the HM version at DLP. We found the MK version to be better.

Have a magical trip! :wizard:

:goodvibes Jennifer

Well Space Moutain, POTC, Indy Jones, in that order then Roger Rabbit maybe. At CA try Alddian, Grizzly rapids and then coster in that order.

But, but, but, what about Peter Pan's Flight?? :confused3

Never have been to WDW, but I know it's not exactly the same as the MK version, and that line gets insane if you don't head there right after rope drop.

You can always grab FP's for the other rides, but there is NO FP for Peter Pan.

Please remember not to compare WDW with DL. We are Walt's vision and so are different. Be sure to enjoy your visit to our house. Then don't miss:
Nemo
Small World
Pirates
Peter Pan (Only because of the line issue)
Tiki Room
Autopia (Which is so much better here, and actually enjoyable!)
Alice in Wonderland
Casey Jr.
The Castle walk-through (with Sleeping Beauty)
Mr. Toad
Roger Rabbit
Buzz Lightyear
Space Mountain
And at California Adventure:
Soarin'
Screamin'
We do have enough to keep you happy for a while here. Enjoy the charm. It's too bad you couldn't have been here during the holidays to see our lovely decorations. Our new additions to California Adventure should be wonderful too.
Have fun!

To answer on the more metaphysical level, I think the first ride to symbolise the difference between MK and DL is Casey junior circus train. Walt loved his trains and this is Walt's park. It also showcases the charm of Fantasyland. Then jump over to Mr. Toad for more "old Disney" goodness.
