WDW gift cards at Publix - buying some as a way to save for Disney?

When I was in Publix today, I saw they had disney gift cards. It appeared that these cards were for Walt Disney World Parks. It gave me the idea of buying one everytime I am at Publix and putting about $25 on each card, then by the time I go to Disney, I will have about 10 cards.

Has anyone used these cards? Can they be used anywhere in the parks? Food and souveniers? Are they one of those cards that if there is a balance on the card of $2.23 that you have to buy something that costs exactly $2.23 or less OR can you pay $2.23 with your card and then the balance with cash? I ask this, because I have had gift cards that were very difficult to use up the balance on.....

We dont have Publix here- we have Giant Eagle that sells WDW gift cards. We get fuel "perks" (cents off gas). I bought enough to pay off my entire trip (earned me 2 free tanks of gas). Then I bought some for the trip also. I didn't try at the food carts- but found almost all stores, resorts, etc took them. I used them on food- just not the carts. The dole whip place took it!!!And no, you dont have to spend exact- they will charge you the overage.

Yep! I bought them every few weeks at Publix to save for my trip. I used them for everything Disney, paying on my trip, food, souvenirs, and even towards tips in restaurants.

I get mine at Target. I use my redcard to pay and get 5% off. Save for Disney and get a discount

I want to buy a $25 gift card each week up until our trip. Can I just add the money to one card or will a I go with a giant stack of $ 25 gift cards?

These cards are sold nationwide at various retailers (to include all major grocery/drug chains, as well as Target stores).

I purchased a few hundred dollars' worth of Disney Gift Cards, last year from Kroger (so I could take advantage of a fuel rewards promotion that gave me $1.00 off every gallon of gas -- which came in handy for the drive down to WDW).

Since then, I have learned that if you purchase these cards at Target (and use your Target credit or debit card), you get 5% off, which isn't a bad deal.

It's also noteworthy to mention that Disney Gift Cards are accepted at WDW, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and The Disney Store (both B&M abnd online).
