WDW DVC stay 10/13-10/20 Day #8

Day 8 - Wednesday 10/20/04

Who: Mark (me-26)
Molly (DW, 28)
Eric (DS, 2 1/2, first trip since he was 8 months old)
Haley (DD, 4.5 months)

Staying: Old Key West, first stay with our DVC points!!

Plan: Checkout, Magic Kingdom, and Flight Home

Actual:
Today was it the last day... We had our bags picked up at 10:45 and we left right about 11. We decided to head to Magic Kingdom to do a few last rides while we waited, and I wanted to get a Turkey Leg that had avoided me our entire trip!! It started out to be a horrible time because Eric was in one of those moods that you just couldn't please him... We finally found him a hot dog at Cosmic Ray's and things seemed to be a little better. We took a ride on Buzz, and then headed to fantasy land for Philharmagic. Eric would watch everything with his glasses on except when Donald is on the carpet... We then continued around for one last ride on the Haunted Mansion... It was a nice ride, but we got stuck just before the graveyard while someone either got on or off needing assistance... This was bad because we stopped right where the jumping haunt kept coming up from behind the gravestone screaming over and over again and Eric just had to keep seeing this!! We finally continued on our way and finished it up. For our final attraction we caught Molly's favorite the Tiki birds. Just after we sat down and the show started Haley began to fuss, so I got up and headed out with her to let Molly and Eric enjoy the show... While I waited I headed over to get a Pineapple Dole Float, our second this trip and second one ever... We tried this float for the first time this trip because I have heard so much about them from the different trip reports! It was as good as has been described! Everyone really enjoyed this little treat. After the 3 of us devoured the float it was time to say goodbye to the Magic Kingdom and head back to OKW to wait for our Murray Hill pickup. We couldn't have left at a better time because as soon as our bus pulled away it began a short monsoon again! What timing we thought... Once back at OKW we just hung out at the Community Hall so Eric could play and Haley could play on the floor before we headed for the airport. Our transportation was a little late, but we got there in plenty of time. He played Disney movies on a laptop for us to watch on our drive to the airport. Once at the airport all our flights were on-time and went very smoothly. We got to fly over a few storms which is always neat to see from above!! We got home about midnight and headed home so I could hit the sack becuase I had work on Thursday!!

Thank you for posting such a thorough and enjoyable trip report!!I've read this out loud and shared it with my husband and we both enjoyed your details! We are planning a trip to VWL in Nov/Dec with our now 3 year old son, but our last trip was in May at OKW when Max was 2.5 and we loved hearing about Eric and how he enjoyed all the same things Max loved!

Yeah I got a Turkey Leg from the walk-up under Astro Orbiter! That was where Eric's tantrum started... Then we headed up to Cosmic Ray's to get he and Molly a hot dog for lunch... Then things got a little better after he ate 1/3 of his $4 hot dog!! I just joke about the cost, but Molly and I talked about that when we ate a meal there that the prices may seem high, but for the most part they give you enough food well worth what you paid.... Just our thoughts.
