Ok - I will be the first to admit that I will stop everything I am doing (washing dishes, vacuuming, even visiting the loo) to watch a WDW commercial on TV. But lately I am finding myself CONSTANTLY interrupted by these commercials. Now I know that we are in a recession and tourism is plunging but honestly, I'm beginning to be turned OFF by all of these advertisements. Yesterday I actually heard a RADIO commercial which I have never heard before and I just went to check my home email and found a Mickey banner advertising a free vacation planning DVD. I even received an email today from Disney baiting me to order a vacation planning DVD.

Is anyone else getting annoyed? I really used to relish seeing the Mouse whenever possible ... but since he's being thrust into my face so often I'm becoming less inclined to want to schedule another trip. For me, WDW is becoming that favorite song that the radio overplays and you can't stand to hear it anymore .... can anyone say "Stairway to Heaven"?

:sad2:

My husband and I were talking about that last night. We didn't know if there was a media blitz or that we are more aware of Disney ads now, since we are in the middle of planning our next trip. :confused3

Haha, my husband just mentioned that last night too. He said I don't know if it is because we just got back and we miss it or what, but they are playing ads non-stop. And usually in California the ads for WDW are not as frequent, but they are on constantly now.

They don't bother me. I guess I just tune them out.

I did see a few very cute billboards around the city with Mickey Mouse holding a birthday cake and offering free admission on your birthday.

HA HA! The last few nights I feel like I can't go to sleep until I hear "It's the time of your life" I am not watching ABC channels either!!! The part where the little boy sees Mickey always makes me tear up!!!

Yes, the volume of them is getting to be too much, but I have to admit that I LOVE the ones with the Dumbo right. Once upon a time, 1982, my mother wouldn't let me fly Dumbo in the air. She freaked out. I was the only kid who had to fly Dumbo near the ground with her screaming her head off next to me. :lmao:

As a loyal only child, I have reminder her of this many many times over the years. :rolleyes1

I swear she is going to haunt me after she is gone.

I also used to relish the commercials, but I definitely have noticed an increase in them and I have to admit they aren't quite as special anymore. I wonder if they're having the same effect on the general public...I would think seeing that rare Disney commercial might spark someone's attention and lead them to look into a trip, but now that they're on so much, it's just like any other commercial that you ignore

Glad to know it's not just me noticing them. I could have sworn there were way more on than usual, but I thought they might just be getting on my nerves more since we had to cancel our trip. I keep getting emails from DVC, too, telling me how it's a great time to buy. Not sure how I ended up on that mailing list as we are not DVC members.

yep i've noticed an increase as well. Normally i would like that but i'm not a fan of the new celebration comercials.
