Hi everyone!

DH and I are thinking of a trip to WDW at the end of July...maybe around the 24th through the 27th, give or take a day in eiither direction.

We have never been there in that time of year. We are October/November or January/February people. I have some questions, maybe for those of you who have experienced both times of the year at WDW:

1. Is it Africa hot?
2. Are the parks extraordinarily crowded, even at night?
3. For those of you who have been there in the fall/winter and the middle of summer, how do the two compare?

We are DVC members and AP holders, so we don't necessarily have the need to "commando tour" at the parks from morning to night. Actually, we were hoping for it to be a somewhat relaxing vacation. My thinking is leisurely wake-up, have breakfast, spend the heat of the day by the pool or strollign through the air conditioned stores, do the parks at night in a leisurely stroll(I have lovely romantic visions of strolling through the WS holding hands ;) ). Am I nuts???????

We go when we can, and try to sneak a few days in Dec, but summer is when we take our long trips...no choice. It will be HOT!!! Lines will be long, but it does get better at night, and it does cool off then. We tend to play by the pool in the afternoon, and do other stuff then head to the parks around 4 and stay till they close...we will do early entry and leave when it gets crowded ...It is doable, especially since you are like us, and don't have to do the commando thing. Hey Disney no matter when is fun :)

We went last July when Ted had a business trip to Miami. We drove up to Orlando for a long weekend Thurs-Mon that last week of July. It was VERY, VERY hot, and VERY humid! You take a shower, and you try to dry off, but I was in a constant state of "wetness" the entire time!

I was expecting TERRIBLE crowds, and they were actually quite light. We usually go during NH school vacation weeks, i.e. THanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc. So, it seemed to be quieter than our previous trips.

We stayed with a friend offsite, and without a pool. What we did, was we went to the parks early in the AM, and once it began to get hot and crowded, we would either go back to our friend's house, or go to CBR with our suits and towels in the rental car, and swim for a while, cool off, and go back to the parks.

Nighttime was great because it was cool and wonderful. The crowds were lighter... locals go home early??? Most of the rides and queues were air conditioned, so it really wasn't so bad.

I love WDW anytime!!

DH and I went the first week of August last year. It wasn't too bad. It was hot, and we did take mid-day breaks at the pool a few times, but other than that it was definately doable. (of course, we live in southern louisiana so we're used to the heat and humidity). The crowds weren't as bad as I was expecting...w/ fast past we never waiting too long for the big rides.

We've been in March, June, August, and December. The crowds are definately larger than in March and December and it is a lot hotter, but I've never regretted going and I would go again. Once DH finsihes college, we'll be pretty limited to going to WDW in the summer since he'll be a teacher.

That's the time of year that we usually spend our two weeks at Old Key West and WDW. Yes it is hot. Yes there are big crowds. But with school age children, we are limited to the summer months and it can be just as hot in June as it is in July or August. Just make sure to drink PLENTY of fluids. Since you aren't in commando mode, you'll probably do just fine during the last week in July.

BTW - We are going to be there the last two weeks of June, not due to heat or crowds, but because that's the only time that our two teenagers can get away from their summertime activities. Marching band has pretty much put an end to our July/August WDW vacations. :(

I have always noticed more foreigners in the summer. And yes, it will be HOT and humid!

Iluv8trax is right, there are LOTS of foreigners in the summer. The Brits are on "holiday" We talked to lots of them, actually, besides the locals, I think the majority of the WDW guests were European. We spoke with one EXHAUSTED looking mother from Scotland while waiting to see a show. She said it was their THIRD week at WDW, and they had been to Hungary for two weeks prior to flying to Florida. Boy, they really know how to take a vacation!!! I was SO jealous!

of hotter and more humid weather then Florida had.......I do believe that when we went labor day weekend .......we sort of melted a little....just a little....spent alot of time in the heat of the day in the pool at Dolphin under the pass over ....loved it.....what a way to melt.....HUH>?????
