WDW AP renewal to Premier AP (copy from WDW thread)

Currently we have WDW Premium AP. In summer (during our WDW AP renewal period) we plan to go to DL. Is it possible to upgrade our WDW AP to Premier AP with renewal discount? Or we need to purchase new ones? Thank you!

I don't think there is any renewal discount for the Premier AP. So it probably doesn't matter if you renew or buy new. I think it might be easier to start new at Disneyland because then you don't have to deal with any difficulties related to upgrading WDW APs at DLR ticket booths (it should work fine, but you never know if the two systems are being finicky that day).

Well, actually... you could renew your WDW AP and then get the value added towards the Premier when you are at DL. This actually may be cheaper because of the renewal discount on the WDW AP. You'd have to ask if DL gives you the full value of a Premium AP towards the Premier or if it is reduced to the price you paid.

We did something like this beginning of last year when DVC had a discount on the Premier AP. We already purchased WDW Premiums on the previous DVC discount so we had to give them our WDW AP's in exchange for the money value they held THEN paid the remaining balance on the DLR price of the DVC discounted Premier AP's.

Our only issue was the expiration dates. WDW's Premium expired Dec. 2014 but when DL sold us the Premier the expiration dates were for March 2015. (THEIR mistake) It was a bit of work to make the dates match up for the recent trip to WDW BUT they made the adjustments for us at no extra cost. So if we WERE to go back to WDW we have til March this year on Premier AP's!
