Hello! We are going to be staying at AoA 11/3-10, and then heading out on a cruise 11/10-15. What is our best/most time and cost effective way to get from our resort to Port Canaveral? :cool1:

(Note: We are not going on Disney Cruise, so Disney transportation not an option.)

Thought about taking Magical Express back to MCO, then shuttle to port. However, that seems like A LOT of shuffling around with two young kids, and would rather pay a bit more for something more convenient. Am thinking hiring a car service, but hoping someone may have some suggestions of a reliable, reasonably priced company, or some other means of transportation to get there.

TIA

Rent a car from the Orlando Car Care Center. They will pick you up at your hotel and take you to the rental kiosk right at the entrance to Disney. I would try to find a coupon code and/or use the discount codes that are available through Costco, Walmart, several airline frequent flyer programs. You can also check mousesvers out for different discount rental options. There are several rental agencies where you can drop your rental off at Port Everglades.
It will take you around 3-5 hours to get from Disney to Ft. L. Traffic can be terrible and I would recommend taking the turnpike which will be faster.Allow yourself plenty of time. Most of the ships start boarding around 1130am. Have you considered driving to Ft. L the afternoon before your cruise and staying close to the port?

Port Everglades (PE) is Fort Lauderdale. Cape Canaveral is not the same!

If your cruise is out of Canaveral, you could indeed ME to MCO and then take a bus to Canaveral.

I'm not aware of a convenient bus from Disney to PE.

It's just about 4 hours from WDW to Port Everglades. I grew up less than 8 minutes from PE. Depending on who you rent from, you'll probably end up dropping the car at the Fort Lauderdale airport (FLL). FLL and PE share car rental locations in many cases. It's about a 10 minute ride from the airport to Port Everglades.

Directions: Turnpike S to 595 East. Note there may be construction, especially on 595.

There are number of quite nice hotels and restaurants in the area. One of the nicer resorts, on the Fort Lauderdale beach, is Lago Mar. There are also a number of chain hotels. The Embassy Suites on 17th Street is a nice hotel inside, but the outside paint job is pretty ugly.

A favorite restaurant, about 2 blocks north of the Embassy Suites on Cordova Road, is Quarterdeck. A very good hamburger can be had for about $10. They always have a fresh fish entry (sandwich and fillet or steak), excellent conch fritters, etc., in a pubish style environment. Outdoor seating is available.

I am such a moron! I was thinking "Port Canaveral", but typed "Port Everglades". (We just got back from one out of there last week!)

Thank you for the responses, but I am actually looking for best way to get from AoA to Port Canaveral. Geesh- guess I needed some more coffee the day I posted this!

Yep--- went to Quarterdeck twice while there! (Las Olas location though!). Always been one of my favs in FLL!

I have edited the title of your thread...hopefully that will make things more clear.
