I wasnt sure where to put this so sorry if I have asked in the wrong place.

If I buy an WDW AP from the Disney website and choose to pick it up at the park when I arrive, will I still be given my AP number to use when booking rooms or will I have to wait until I get to the park? I am in Australia and questioned Disney about getting an AP and they dont send anything out in the mail to Australia and said to pick the pass it up when I arrive. I am only curious about getting my ap number to book my hotel.

*phew:yay:

hope that makes sense guys :)

Thanks in Advance - Marc

You don't need your AP to book rooms. I have an active AP currently and was able to book my AP rate room at Pop Century next month without a problem.

However, you may need to show your AP when you check in. Some cast members at the front desk ask and others do not. If they ask you for your AP, I think the cast members will allow you to go pick up your AP (at the Guest Relations outside the parks or at Downtown Disney) and bring it back for proof. I think the fact that you're coming in from Australia will be taken into consideration. (If not, I'd politely ask to speak to a manager!)

You are generally given 24 hours to produce the AP in order to insure you retain the AP discount rate, so you shouldn't have any problems. I have heard of a few cases of the CMs being a bit of a pain about it, but that is pretty unusual (if there is one thing we all know it is that CMs can be very inconsistent...)

I've booked dozens of rooms with AP rates. They always say on the phone that I'll have to produce the AP. They've never once asked for it.

A friend of mine has an AP and has booked even more rooms than I and she's never been asked for it, either.

Some Disers are asked for theirs. I don't know why we have one experience and they have another...but we've never been asked.

I wonder if it might have to do with whether they already know that you have an active AP or not. Mostly these questions come up from people who do NOT have an active AP, and need to get it when they arrive.

i booked an AP rate for my disney resort (where i arrive on Monday woo hoo!!) even though i don't have an AP yet.

There is no problem at all. I've done this before. You just check in and then at some point during your stay, you have to show them your AP. You don't need it on check in.

Also, if you're planning any backstage tours, you also get an AP discount, but you don't have to have the AP when you book, even though you pay in advance. They trust you. When you show up for the tour, then you have to show your AP, but by then you'll have it anyway.
