WDW 3/2-3/9 2007 The World With An ONLY Child!!!! COMPLETED!!! With Pics!!!

ESPN the Weekend Day II!

So, now my DS was determined to get in front of that stage no matter what it took! I think he would have sold a kidney to do so!!!

We are at MGM at rope-drop and DS runs up Hollywood Blvd. as fast as his little legs would carry him! DH and I cannot keep up with him.

(DH is in his early 40's and entering his heart-attack years. Also, he has major knee problems. He's gonna need knee-replacement surgery in the very near future.:sad1: There's no excuse for me. I'm just lazy.)

When we finally got to the over-sized Sorcerer Mickey hat, we see DS right smack-dab in the middle of the action!!!! Right up in front!

Just exactly where he wanted to be.

DH and I just hung back by the fence and let the boy do his thing.

There was a very large movie screen in front of the stage where the live broadcasts of Sports Center were being shown. So, what the TV viewer was watching, we were watching also. The camera goes on and everyone starts screaming and carrying on and waving the caps of their respective teams in the air. Then we see him---on the Jumbotron!!! In all his Eagles glory!!! Dressed to the nines in his Green and Black!!!!

Uh-Oh, I FEEL THE FIGHT SONG COMING ON!!!

Fly, EAGLES, Fly,
On the road to VICTORY...:cheer2:

OK, OK, I'll stop. I don't want to--but I will.

Anyway, DS was positioned in such a way that you can see him in every shot. Well, maybe every other shot. But, heck, it was a lot of shots! There were two broadcasters during that show. When the camera pointed at one of the men, (I don't know his name. Dark-haired guy with a moustache and goatee. Looked like he was in his late 30's or early 40's) we could see DS over the guy's shoulder. I think this was the most fun DS had on the entire trip! I saw him having such a good time, I started to tear up a little! I am SUCH a SAP!

After the show was over, DH weaves his way through the sea of football jerseys and fetches DS. He asks us if he can stay there.

In front of the stage.

All day.

I say, "What about all the other stuff?"

He says, "I like it here, Mom."

I didn't have the heart to tell him no.

Besides, DH wanted to find the Turkey Leg Stand.

Darn Turkey Legs!!!

This is the one thing that Mr. Laid Back talked about for the last 3 years!!!

I didn't have the heart to tell him no, either.

Now, I give DS THE SPEECH:

Stay right here. Don't go anywhere else. We'll never go on any other vacations AS LONG AS YOU LIVE if you don't follow the rules. Blah. Blah. Blah.

We leave Mini-McNabb and go in search of the ever-elusive Poultry Appendage! Or is it Fowl. I don't know, man! Give me a break, would ya!

We find the stand and DH gets his leg. Those things are huge! He is in heaven right about now! He couldn't be happier if he'd won the lottery on Super Bowl Sunday where the Eagles defeat the Dallas Cowboys!!!!:cheer2:

Well, maybe not THAT happy, but you catch my drift!!!

After DH's gluttonous side-show, we window shop a little and make our way up to the stage area again. As soon as we turn the corner, there he is--on the Jumbotron--AGAIN!!

At this point the Harlem Globetrotters are up on the stage for a Q&A session.

While he is on the screen--AGAIN--my son proceeds to ask a very lucid, mature, and thought-provoking question:

"What inspired you to become a Harlem Globetrotter?"

Did you catch that? I guess the catholic education is paying off, Don'tcha think?

I pay enough money for it!!!!!:scared:

I don't recall what their answers were because the waterworks were coming on full-force at this point. The dam has busted, Ladies and Gents!!

Dh shakes his head once again.:sad2:

The host of the Q&A is mercilessly teasing my son about the Eagles and his being from Philly. The NERVE of that guy! He's lucky DH didn't run up on that stage and tackle him like Jeremiah Trotter! (Eagles linebacker, for those of you who don't know. Isn't it common knowlege, though?)

Mr. Laid Back, indeed!!!:rotfl2:

It was all in good fun. Or, was it?:rolleyes1

Now, DS has been front and center for about 4 hours now, so it's time to go. Didn't he have to go to the bathroom at some point? The world will never know.:scared:

Besides, the crowd was starting to form for the afternoon parade and I wanted to high-tail it outta there and I was tired from all the stupid weeping!:wizard:

So, we head back to POFQ for a little rest before Illuminations tonight!:yay:

Next up: I'm still Tired; Relaxing boat rides

Just now, I've been told by my Ever-So-Serious-About-All-Things-Football-Related husband that the Philadelphia Eagles would NEVER play the Dallas Cowboys in the Super Bowl because they are in the same division in the NFC East.

For God's sake, I was trying to make a point!

Sheesh!

Get a life, Ya Freak!

Then he starts rambling on that we played the New England Paitriots in the Super Bowl in 2004 because the NFC team plays the AFC team and the Patriots are an AFC team. Yadda. Yadda. Yadda.

Whatever.

They LOST, remember?

That shut him up right away.

Serves you right.:lmao:

After MGM, we hop on the bus and head back to POFQ. It was about 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

DS and DH decide to go for a swim and I join them for a little while.

The water in the pool is warm, but once you poked your head up after going underwater, the air was FREEZING!!!!

I get out of the pool, grab about twenty towels from the towel rack and proceed to throw them on any part of my body that had exposed skin.

After DH and I dry off a little, we go up to the pool-side bar.

We encounter the "love bugs"---Lots of 'em!

DS met a couple kids in the pool and were hanging around with them.

All of the sudden, the kid doesn't want to have anything to do with us!

It's all good, though.

It was his vacation too and the LAMENESS of Mama and Papa were starting to get to him, I'm sure. Although, he never actually said so.

Whatever. He was having fun and that's what this vacation was all about.

Anyway, back to the bar!!!

The bar area was small, but the drinks were YUMMO!

The drink DH and I had was a Pina Colava. Pina Colada (duh!) with raspberry puree.

Delicious.

There was an area off to the side of the bar that had tables with umbrellas. We just sat there and reflected on how great the trip was going so far.

Actually, it was nice that DS met other kids his age that day because it gave DH and I some quiet time.

Sonny-boy can REALLY fill a room sometimes, Ya know!

I stay at the pool for about a half-hour and I'm really starting to get tired, so I ask if I can go back to the room for awhile. DH gives me the "pouty face".:sad2:

I know he could tell I was tired, so he eventually gives me the green light.:thumbsup2

DS doesn't even realize I'm gone.:upsidedow

I get back to the room, change out of my bathing suit, and CRASH!!!

I forgot to mention that the beds were SUPER COMFORTABLE!!!

About and hour later, the boys return to the room.

I get up (reluctantly) and we go to the food court for dinner.

(I really don't want to describe every meal we had at the food court because like I said, it was just average. It's your basic burgers, chicken strips, hot dogs, etc. There were a few New Orleans-style dishes such a jambalaya and seafood creole, though.)

We ate dinner early so we go back to the room for awhile, and I ZONK OUT AGAIN!!!

We had planned to do to Illuminations that night which I've never seen before.

Needless to say, that didn't happen.

I snap out of my slumber at about 8:30, and I'm like, "What time is it?"

DH says, "TOO LATE TO GET A GOOD VIEW OF ILLUMINATIONS, THAT"S FOR SURE!"

Man, What is UP with him on this trip! You don't understand. At home, this man barely talks over a whisper! I guess MY immature crankiness has passed on to HIM!:headache:

So, what are we gonna do now? I let DH calm down a little and I make a suggestion yet again:

"How about we take the boat over to Riverside. Check it out. Maybe grab a drink or something. Sound good, my little love muffin?" (Barf bags are located above your heads, Ladies and Gentlemen!)

OK, I didn't go that far! But, I was trying to work the Ol' Wifey Magic Spell on him. IT WORKED!! We were off to the sister resort!

The boat ride was short but relaxing. We arrive at Riverside and I am really likin' this joint! (We'll probably never stay here though because the property is way too big. Dh's knees, remember?)

We walk in the door and I make a bee-line for the gift shop!! DS and DH follow me in. Riverside's gift shop is about 3 times the size of POFQ's. I do A LOT of browsing and we decide to buy some snacks for the room for later. DS has Disney Gift Cards that he got for Christmas. $225.00 worth!!
That kid has more spendng money than me!! (Not quite, but pretty darn close!) DS decides to but a ridiculously over-priced pair of light up sunglasses!!! I say, "It's your money. Don't come cryin' to me when you don't have any left by the middle of the week!" Don't ALL moms say that!

We head out of the gift shop and DS spots the arcade!! My son loves him some arcade games! Again, this arcade is about 3 times the size of POFQ's. Smaller resort, smaller amenities, I guess.

He immediately finds kids to hang with. To be young again!

Mama gives THE SPEECH to her boy.

DH and I go in search of alcohol!

On the way to the bar, we pass by Boatwright's. This is the TS restaurant at Riverside. This place was hoppin'! Even at about 10:00 at night! We'll have to make ressies for this place for our next trip. (Do I even NEED to remind you people when we'll be back? I didn't think so!)

We get to the bar and we order--Pina Colavas! They have them here, too! I guess since they are sister resorts, they have the same drinks available.

Just as delicious as this afternoon!:woohoo:

We sat in front of a large screen TV and guess what station was on- ESPN!

We strike up a conversation with two men sitting at the next table in business suits. It looked like they were drinking brandy out of snifters!

Anyway, the "suits" could see I was a little excited about the possiblity of my baby getting to be on TV! They were staring at me and I tell them about the day's events! After they hear the barrage of words that are coming out of my mouth at the speed of sound and at approximately 3 octaves over my normal voice, (I'm a singer, remember!) they smile, nod, and proceed to stand up and gracefully exit the bar! Maybe they don't like sports. Or kids, for that matter. I don't care! Snooty, brandy-drinking, snifter-brandishing fools! I am a proud mama!

Sadly, ESPN did not repeat Sports Center while we were at Riverside's bar. BUMMER!!!

We finish our yummy drinks and fetch the kid.

He was right where I told him he'd BETTER be. Playing an arcade basketball game with 2 other boys. We scoop him up and get back on the boat to go back to our "home away from home".

Next Up: Extra Magic Hours(Morning) at Epcot! Spectro Magic and Exrta Magic Hours(Evening) at MK!

Today, we are taking advantage of Extra Magic Hours!!!

While I was planning this trip, I was on the computer day and night trying to figure out what parks we would visit on what days to coincide with EMHs.

Guess what, it was well worth it because we barely had any wait for any attractions!

We got up on Monday morning at 6:30. We went to the food court again for those delicious benigets and that GREAT coffee again!:lmao:

The night before was an early night so we were rarin' to go even that early in the morning!

Surprisingly, there weren't that many people waiting in line as we got to the front entrance to Epcot. Maybe 50 at most.

We go in the turnstlies, and head straight for The Land--SOARIN'!!!!

We just walked on!!! The newest and most popular attraction at Epcot--and we just walk on like nobody even knew about it!!!

Also, we sat in the front row---no feet dangling in front of us, thank you very much!!

As soon as we get off the ride, we declare it our favorite attraction at WDW!!!

As we were walking around, it felt like we had the whole park to ourselves. It was fantastic!!

DS and DH decide they wan to go on Mission Space. Not for me. I was interested in seeing the new Nemo ride at the Living Seas. There is a huge electronic board in the middle of the park that displayed the wait times for all the rides at Epcot. Mission Space was 5 minutes! 5 MINUTES!!! DH and I just looked at each other!! We couldn't believe the luck we were having!!

We decide that the guys would ride MS, and I would wait in line at Nemo. Surely there would be a line there, right?

Wrong!!

There was absolutley no line for anything in this park!!!

Did everyone sleep in today, or WHAT?

So, I just sat on a bench and waitied for the guys to come over to the Nemo ride.

About 15 minutes later they did, and we were off to see Nemo and Friends!

It was a cute ride, but more for younger kids than DS.

However, the queue was sooooo long to get on the little clam mobiles!! There was an older couple walking right in front of us and they were MAD! The wife kept mumbling:

"Where's the damn RIDE at, already?"

I think the husband thought the walk through the queue WAS the ride!! TOO funny! I think that's how DH and I will be someday!!!:rotfl2:

After the Nemo ride, we saw Turtle Talk with Crush. Hysterical! For those of you who have never seen this, I won't ruin it for you, but I have one question:

How do they DO that!!!!

After that, we went on the Journey Into Imagination With Figment. Never been on this before, eithier. I thought it was a little corny, but DH is a big Monty Python fan and Eric Idle is featured in the ride. There was another annoying song on this ride, but, thank God I can't remember what it is now.

By this time, it was about 11a.m. and we are DONE what we wanted to do in Future World at Epcot. Can you BELIEVE this!!:woohoo:

World Showcase was just opening, so we decide to hop on one of the boats that takes you accross the Seven Seas Lagoon. I've walked through the countries before, but I never really got a chance to explore them until this trip.

I was determined to go to the France pavillon and get a pastry! We went to the pattesserie (sp?) and DH and I order a chocolate croissant. DS gets a fruit tart. All were delicious. I think this is the most crowded place we came across all day! We sat at a little bench outside and just took it all in. BTW, coffee was not as good here. Just thought I'd pass that on so you wouldn't think I was completely insane!

After our little treat, we walk around all the countries, and we get to the Germany pavillion. DH wants a bratwurst and a beer.

This is another thing Mr. Formerly Laid-Back talked about for the last 3 years, also.

Notice it's all food-realted!!!!

Anyway, he does and he's happy--for now.

DS wanted Kaki-Gori, but the stand was closed. So, he settled for a gelato from the Italy pavillion.

Time Check. 1:00. Done at Epcot. Dh and I are stunned.

We go back to POFQ. DH and DS hit the pool again. I take another nap.

We eat dinner at food court again about 6:30 and head to MK--MY FAVORITE!!

We usually wait until the last full day of our trips to go to MK, but I also had never seen Specrto Magic before, and I knew we'd have another chance to go back to MK later in the week.

We got to MK about 7:15 and the parade was to start at 8:00. We stake out a spot on Main Street and park our butts on the curb. DH displays the "pouty face" again.:confused3

He says that he does not feel like sitting there for 45 minutes. I tell him that if we get up from this spot, we would never get another seat as good as the one we have. He didn't know about lining up for the parades way ahead of time. When he saw how early everybody was sitting on the curb, he was surprised! To pass the time, DS went in a couple of stores on Main Street and DH and I chatted with a lady from Las Vegas who was visiting WDW with her husband and grand-daughter. Very nice people. Salt of the Earth.

At the entrance to the MK, there were carts with light-up toys in them. I saw a cute pair of light-up Minnie ears that I REALLY wanted. However, I passed on them because I would have rather had a treat for later. (The carrott cake at the POFQ was calling my name.) While we were sitting on the curb, DS says, "I'll be right back." I was still talking to Vegas Lady so I wasn't paying attention. All of the sudden, DS comes running back over to me with a huge smile on his face with the Minnie ears!!! He paid for them with his Disney Dollars. Vegas Lady says: "You've got a good son there."

Yes, I do.:wizard:

The parade begins!!

Spectro Magic is spectacular!!

(PS--I got great pictures of this parade along with the rest of the trip. Hovever, I am not very savvy with posting pictures on this TR. When I figure it out, I'll post my pictures. Sorry!)

The funniest thing was when the Big Bad Wolf came right over to me and pretended he was going to eat me!! I was pretending to bury my head in DH's shoulder. Vegas Lady and I were laughing hysterically!

When the parade ends, we wind up right in front of Cinderella' Castle as Wishes was about to start. This turned out not to be a good place to watch the fireworks because they shoot them off behind the castle. So, at best, we had a partial view of them. However, we had a great vantage point of Tink coming down from the top of the castle. LOVED that part!!!

After Wishes, we head over to Tommorowland to get wristbands for MK EMHs.

Again, hardly any wait for the rides we rode on!:dance3:

We rode Buzz Lightyear, Carousel of Progress, (another one of my favorites) Space Mountain, Winnie the Pooh, Mickey's Philharmagic, It's A Small World, and Peter Pan's Flight that evening.

It was getting really cold and all I had on was a long-sleeve shirt and shorts. DH was a real gentleman and gave me his jacket. Now, HE was cold. I suggest we go to one of the shops and buy a sweatshirt for him. We go to a shop called Sir Mickey's. This shop is located in Fantasyland as you go through the castle. This was a good shop to go in because the merchandise was geared toward men. DH buys a very nice jacket with a small Mickey logo. (He really isn't into wearing Disney clothing) Now, I want one!! But, I got my Minnie ears so it's all good!

Again, we were walking around this park and we felt like we were the only ones there!! The music was playing and it was nice just to walk around and listen to it and feel totally happy.:cloud9:

Next up: Animal Kingdom and Fantasmic!!!:wizard:

Hey, a response to my TR. Thank God!

always on vacation:

The EMHs were great! Don't know if you'll have the same experience in May, though.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Let me know how it goes!!

Thanks for reading!!:thumbsup2

What a sweet thing for your son to do. It really shows what values and morals you and your DH have instilled in him. I hope when my DH and I are ready for kids, we will be able to instill good morals to them too. Of course, I cannot wait to read more. You are very lucky for all of your short wait times.

Beauty, you are very kind to say such things!!

DS is a very sensitive and caring chid. He is very helpful and would give you the shirt off his back.

He can be a real handful sometimes with the ADHD, though.

We try our best!!!

Again, thank you.

I'm getting ready to cry. Thre goes my sappiness, again!!!:sad1:

Great TR so far!! Keep it coming! I love SpectroMagic.....we missed it when we were there in December, but will make sure we see it in August!:goodvibes

I'm really enjoying your TR. We're staying at OKW for 5 short nights 4/29-5/4. We are in our 50's from northeast Philly now living in Bensalem. My brother is meeting us there with his 8 yr old son..first time at Disney since he was 2, so basically his "real" first time. This is our first time on DDP, we usually just wing it & have never even made ADR's before. Can't wait to read more of your TR.

The wait on the curb was worth it! Even DH was impressed! IS SpectroMagic different during the holidays? Just wondering.

DH is from NE philly. Went to Archbishop Ryan. He's from Frankford and Grant. Right down the street from Holy Family College. I'm from Southwest Philly, near the airport. Now, we live near Academy and Red Lion. Nice area. Our son goes to St. Martha's.

Good luck with DDP. I don't think I'd have the nerve to wing it. As you can see, planning is my life.

Well, it's a small world after all......

Have fun on your trip, neighbor!:thumbsup2

Originally from Welsh & Blvd went to Washington High back in the stone ages before you were born..LOL..Lived at Salem Harbour at Grant & Delaware River 15 years ago..really a small world.

We also love Spectromagic. It's the only parade worth waiting for..IMHO..I hope my 8 yr old nephew will like it as well & not want to just do rides.

We have ADR's for Wolfgang Puck's, Spoodles, Le Cellier, Kona, & WCC. Have no idea where we'll eat at CS for lunch..any suggestions?

I see you're anxiously awaiting DCL next year. We have been on the Wonder & the Magic several times & believe me you will absolutely LOVE IT!

Wow, that is close!!

I'm sure it wasn't the Stone Ages when you went to Washington!! You are TOO funny!!!

I'm willing to bet that your nephew is going to LOVE SpecrtoMagic! DS is 12 and he was mesmerized!!!

Next year, we are going to go to O'hana (of course!) and we were thinking about Jiko at AKL but I REALLY want to go to Kona. So, let me know how Kona is, OK? As far as CS, we didn't do much of that. At MGM, we went to the Flatbread Grill. That's about it. The rest of our CS meals were at POFQ.

OOOHHHHH, I can't wait to go on the cruise!!!! I've been roaming around on the DISboards to get ideas on magnetic signs and I definitely want to go to Palo for brunch. 13 months away. TOOOOO LONG!

Talk to you soon!:wizard:

Aww your son is so sweet.

Haha..Im a little devil compared

:scared1: I am a smart-mouthed-13-going-on-30 teen :rotfl:
