WDW 2008, just us and the weans - NOW WITH PICS!!!

Hi Di,

You are so close now! I can hear your excitement over here!

I am so sad that I missed the chance to meet you in September but I am very happy that you were able to rebook your trip! :thumbsup2

I'm curious to find out if Grumpy returns with a stein (or two) :lmao:

Sophia

I couldn't live without a dishwasher either. Even though I'm a stay at home mom, I am not a fan of the cleaning part of being home and could not do dishes.

Looks like you've checked off most of your to do's and are nearly ready to go.

I hope you take a lot of pictures while at Biergarten, that sounds like it'll be a lot of fun.

DH is even a dishwasher convert now - it took me forever to persuade him to get one. Now he couldn't do without it either. Feeling fairly organised at the mo, but I'm sure there will be the usual last minute panic. I also have this nagging feeling we're missing something! :confused3 I don't know if its because we've not had to get the suitcases down and pack them - they've been sitting gathering dust in our bedroom since September. :thumbsup2

What is it before a trip that something has to break??? Sorry to hear about the dishwasher, but glad another is ordered. Your right, if you have never had one, you just don't understand. We get spoiled.;)

You get seriously spoiled by a dishwasher don't you!

Glad you finally got to post Di. Maybe the two of you should compete to see who can post the quickest. I can only picture the two of you running through the house, knocking kids and things over trying to get to the computer.:rotfl:

Generally he's on the PC and i'm on the laptop, though lately he's been hogging the laptop.....shocking! :snooty: It may yet come to blows :rolleyes1

Have I missed something? Have you gone off and left your toiletry bag before? You keep mentioning how you shouldn't leave it on the hook, which sounds like something I would do.

I've never done it yet, but it is a fear I have - I'm full of irrational fears - just ask Grumpy about my theory on land sharks.......:sad2:

Wow, a week from today and you will be up and heading to MK by this time probably, were you planning on getting there at opening?

I really want to go next weekend, just so I can walk around and look for the family stopping in the middle of the pathways. My DH complains about me in stores just turning, taking off and not looking first. Of course when this happens, he is always right there, how come I don't run into people when he isn't.

Don't know if we'll be there for opening - I think we'll sleep in a bit :rotfl: :lmao: to try and recover from the jetlag. Will see how we feel.
Would be great if you were there - you'd spot us easily, just follow the trail of destruction and complaints....

Oh, are you going to do my favorite complaint? I so love it when I am looking at something and someone just steps in front of me and starts looking at what I was looking at.

Melissa

Oh I'm sure that will feature highly on our schedule of daily activities...

One of my fave things to do is find someone who is looking intently at an item on a carousel display and then just whirl it round absentmindedly, oh how that amuses everyone :lmao:

Di is miffed because she drafted a big reply on 'her' thread earlier before noticing she was signed in as me..............you have no idea how frustrated she is becoming :rotfl2:

If you have ever seen National Lampoons European Vacation then you have a rough idea how I envisage my trip to the Biergarten unfolding, only with more slapping! I think the catchphrase for my holiday will now be "Gunter did it"

Tschüs (little bit of German there for you)

I'll speak to you later......or now actually....since you're sitting next to me on the couch :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Love your report great pics!

Hi there Genna,
Welcome! Glad you're enjoying it. Hopefully we'll have even better photos from the trip! :cloud9:

Sophia

Hi Sophia,

Getting hyper now!!!:goodvibes :yay:
Gunter is even now planning a new display unit for his steins!

Di x

"Are you posting again?" came the anguished cry from the far end of the couch. She has stropped off to bed now demanding tea and cake, saying she will post tomorrow since I wont let her on! :rotfl2:

I think Herr Gunter will coming out to play on this holiday, I pity the staff at the Germany pavilion as I will be out of control gabbling in very bad German and gazing at the steins.

Grumpy
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I just love reading your report. You both are hysterically funny and such a joy to read.

Eventually - I get to post on my own PTR!!!!!!
Some people - the cheek! :rolleyes1

Anywho - for those that are interested Gunter and the rest of the clan will be at Biergarten on Sunday 2nd Nov at 635 onwards. He'll be the tall obnoxious 'faux German' in liederhosen. :thumbsup2

He's even been trying to learn German to 'dazzle' the servers.....I fear we may be asked to leave and never return.

No real updates today, just thought I would update my To Do list:

Only other event of (possible) interest, our dishwasher finally broke down this week. It's been on its last legs for about a year now, so it's not really a surprise. However, another is ordered and should come before we go. I can't cope with all this washing dishes by hand - it takes forever!!! My SIL had said to wait until the Christams sales - :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: There spakes a woman whose never had a dishwasher!!:scared1: Go from October to the end of December with no dishwasher!!! :scared: :scared: :scared:

Di x

Di, glad to see you made it on!!!! :woohoo: Thanks for posting the Biergarten schedule. A beer must be drunk that night in a toast to both of you. I'll watch the Orlando newspaper websites the next morning for any news on a rowdy fake German getting thrown in that Disney jail! :lmao:

Your list looks great. Sunglasses to be packed cracked me up. We have sunshine 340 days a year in the desert so they are permanently attached to my head. In fact I believe anyone born in the desert has developed ridges so they can always rest and never come off. Unfortunately I'm a transplant at a young age from the midwestern USA so I do not have that luxury.

Oh, I keep meaning to ask how you tint your eyelashes? I would LOVE to know. I grew up redhead and now I'm strawberry blonde and I have eyelashes as white as the background I'm typing on. Even when I skip makeup I try to throw on mascara because I look like a ghost. So I'm really interested.

Yes, get that new dishwasher. I would go crazy washing forks and spoons til Christmas. OR tell your sister to come over and help you out.

I agree with Sophia, we need pictures of Biergarten. Video would be nice too! I wish you guys had sat by us. The people who did were very boring. I was hoping for a lively table but it was not to be. Everytime the toast was yelled they just looked around and shook their heads. :sad2: Then the Grandma asked why I would let my kids go down and dance on the floor when they hadn't eaten anything. Like Morgan and Jake are gonna eat a sausage! Let them PARTY its BIERGARTEN! :cool1:

I hope you have better table mates than I did!

Forgot to reply to this. We base our ENTIRE Christmas holiday around the movie National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. Its a must watch Thanksgiving Night and all mayhem from there. My husband becomes obsessed.

:sad2: They have great timing don't they. When I was at WDW with my DM in April mine quit and DH had to replace it while I was gone. Guess he didn't want to wash dishes by hand either.:rotfl:

Guten Morgen

I have a feeling there will be a LOT of video and photo's of my trip to Biergarten. I just hope I have not built my expectations too high, I think not though, how can beer n sausages ever fail????

I plan on taking many pictures and video of the night in Biergarten - I'm sure its a night Gunter and i won't want to forget! ;) Who needs table mates when I'll have Gunter entertaining the staff? :lmao:

OK - eyelash tinting. I'm pretty sure there will be salons in the US who do it, I can't imagine it's only a European thing. I do it myself cause I did a few beauty courses a couple of years ago. You can get kits to do it over here in a lot of chemists as well. It's a bit like colouring your hair. You slather vaseline around your eyes, and CAREFULLY brush on the tinting lotion (like you're applying mascara), taking care not to get it in your eyes cause it stings like billy -oh!!!! Leave it on for about 5-7 mins then wipe it all off, again taking care not to get it in your eyes. Eh voila! No need for mascara!

Now, you're just showing off - "We have sunshine 340 days a year in the desert so they are permanently attached to my head."......looking out on torrential rain, AGAIN, that's not what I want to hear! :cool2: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I can just picture that!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

loved reading this and looking at your pics! :D

Hi there!
Welcome aboard!!!!! :flower3:
Glad you're enjoying it!

:sad2: They have great timing don't they. When I was at WDW with my DM in April mine quit and DH had to replace it while I was gone. Guess he didn't want to wash dishes by hand either.:rotfl:

Once men get used to a dishwasher - they just can't imagine life without it!! DH loves our dishwasher just as much as me!!! At least your hubby had the sense to replace it for you and not leave the dishes piling up until you got back for you to sort out!!

Di x

Just in case people are concerned, we did just actually speak to each other, for real, with spoken words, not a keystroke in sight........................however we are both back at our usual positions surfing away now.

3) I may well stop in the middle of the street, suddenly, with no warning. My view is that Walt kinda wanted folk to look at Disney and all the things in it so its no surprise folk wanna stop and take in the sights.

4) I plan to take pics when I am there, other people may well end up in them, its not intentional its just damn hard to find an empty park these day.

Its great to hear both your points of view. Glad Di has the laptop back.
Whenever I tell my husband somewhere we need to be, his response is always the same, send me an email. If I do not email him he won't remember. :sad2:

Great thinking on number three. My reasoning was that the imagineer's had put so much work into the details they wanted people to actually notice those things. And I was often aggravated that all those people were running through my photos!!!! :rolleyes1

With all the excitement for you two and your family going to Biergarten, I have decided it might be a must see on my trip too. I can't wait for photos, you'll have to tell how the food is for sure too. I have a bit of a picky clan, me included as I only eat chicken or don't eat meat at all. So you are less than a week away :cool1: I would be jumping up and down :yay:

How is the dishwasher?

I will miss reading this ptr while you are away, but will be excited to read what both you and hubby have to report when you get back. popcorn::

Wow, you will be here Friday! Ok, not here in my home, but here in Florida, just a little over an hour away from me. I'm excited, so I can only imagine how excited you are.

So, will you take your laptop and give us updates or do we have to wait until you get back?

I think we will all miss the two you of communicating through the Dis. Will you text each other at the parks, while you are standing next to each other?:rotfl:

I am really very very excited about Biergarten, as you may have noticed. Its gotta be a fun time after all combining beer, food, songs and slappy dancing is a sure fire hit!!

How is the dishwasher? I'm fine, thanks for asking :thumbsup2

You would be surprised how long we can go without speaking, not that we are in a huff with each other but sometimes a look is all you need really

Yes, damn those imagineers and their efforts :lmao: I will be demanding that no-one crosses my sightline as I take shots in Disney, its my holiday after all and they should be considerate that my needs take priority over everyone else

This reply did not pan out quite how I intended, never multi-quoted before, so if its in bold its a reply. No doubt Di will be on later after work to address any issues I have missed and add her own peculiar flavour to the thread....just kiddin honey-bunch

Absolutely hopeless...:sad2: Can't multi-quote at all!

"My own particular flavour?" Wonder what flavour I am?:

Almost finished my to-do list now, mainly just got the stuff to be done on the day. Trying to some :laundy: so I don't return to a huge big basketful!
Also had a leak from under the sink tonight, luckily nothing serious - just because the dishwasher isn't connected. But I spent a good few minutes weeping and wailing.
Nearly there now!!!! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:
Just going off to wax my legs and tint my eyelashes now! Too much information?

Di x

I have to admit the eyelash tinting sounds scary but if you do not have to put on mascara each day it might be worth it. :confused3 I have serious eye issues. Like if anyone gets near them I'll lash out in a rage or like a caged mongoose so I'm not quite certain I could be as brave as you and do that.

Link under the sink! :scared1: Why are there always water issues when planning a vacation. Not cool. ;I hope it has been repaired and the crying is over with.

Oh I just realized my cousin Karin will be there the same time you are. If you see someone who looks like me walking around it isnt. I do wish I could take over her body though and meet your family. Sounds a little creepy so I'll move on.......:rolleyes1

Ok I am going to have the cupcake update today (hopefully) but I'll come over here and share with you that the magical cupcakes were in our POP food court the whole time. Little did I know that so they very well may be in your food court too.

The Poly did have them at Captain cooks but they had whipped cream frosting on them and not the delicious buttercream of my dreams so dont go there.

The Boardwalk sweet shop had some that I nicknamed "half pints" because the cupcake was literally half tall as the one in POP and the frosting not as thick but still had the same taste. Whenever you see a cupcake just make sure you ask if it has buttercream frosting and you'd be all set to get the "magical cupcake"

Here is a picture in case you need a point of reference or want to print it out to tape to the back of the chair in front of you for the long plane ride.:thumbsup2

I know its not the best picture but photography was not on my mind at the moment. Jeff had to tell me to slow down my dive into the cupcake and take a picture for my report! :lmao: They are huge, larger than Jeff's fist around. Its like a mini birthday cake!

Go forth and eat cupcakes.....

Sweet mother of God that's the finest looking confection I have ever seen. Its simple but delicious looking. I plan to weigh myself before the holiday and then upon my return, I am guessing my intake will faaaaaaaar outweigh what I expel through walking.

Have now finished my job today so have 1 day at home before we head off on the start of our trip:woohoo:

The explosion of pure joy when you bite into it is what that puppy does best! You will not be disappointed. Now I would not go posting a spoiler for just any couple on the DIS so do me proud and seek out the cupcake!

Also

:dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

Minus Roger of course Poor fellow, I hear he is living on the streets of Hong Kong begging for money now.

Anyway, the dancers are for your 1 day at home of course! WOOHOO!!!

We need the required luggage pictures! :thumbsup2
