I am new to running and 1/2 marathons and would like to do the WDW 1/2 Marathon in January, but after reading about the Princess 1/2 marathon, would love to do that as well.

Right now I am planning my first 1/2 marathon in July, my 2nd 1/2 marathon in October, then the WDW 1/2 in January - would trying to do the Princess 1/2 in Febraury be too soon after the Janaury one??? How much time do you allow between events?

Thanks,
Tammy

Two of my friends did the full and the princess. I think they took maybe a recovery week and then jumped right back into training.

I'm doing the DL Half and seriously considering the Wine and Dine, which are less than a month apart...that should be interesting.

I did both this year, just had two weeks off for recovery, and I'm doing the dl race then the wine and dine half later in the month, just going to recover and do a couple runs between them. I'm doin the ESPN 5k next week too. Just be cautious, listen to your body, dont overdo it, but it is very plausible.

That is more than enough time between events to run them. The general rule of thumb is to allow one day of rest (or easy running) per mile raced - so you can race a 5k or 10k every weekend, a half-marathon every couple of weeks, and a marathon once a month.

You may not PR at every event, and your times may not be quite as good as they would if you have a longer interval, but I say, to heck with that - and celebrate the accomplishment of running all those races!

Depends on your training. Are you racing both or just running? In training you usually have long runs on consecutive weekends though they should be a bit slower than race pace. So sure, you can do it.

Many of us do the Goofy so our answers may vary. I personally think 22 hours between races is more than enough:rotfl2:

Seriously, 2 weeks is enough if you are trained. This time of the year many of us are dong back to back weekends of various races. It's the season (at least here in Florida). Make one a race and the other a fun run if necessary.

enjoy,
Duane

Assuming you're well trained, there is plenty of time between the WDW half and the Princess to be able to run them both. As Duane said, even 2 weeks can be enough if you've trained properly and have a good solid base. We're in the middle of our good running season here in Texas, so I've run 3 marathons, an ultra, and the Goofy Challenge in the past 14 weeks. Only one of those did I race. The other 5 were just for fun, so I slowed down and enjoyed myself.

I did the Goofy and then the Princess this year. Like others have said, I took 2 weeks to recover. I would so both again if the opportunity was there.

I did the January half and the Princess half this year and will be doing them both next year too. After the January half I took a week off then I picked up where I needed to for the Princess. It was plenty of time in between and I loved having another race to train for so soon. :)

Assuming your trained well enough you should be fine :). Give yourself a week or two to recover and cut the mileage between the races. Also if you're planning on running one of them for a PR I'd pick one of them to focus on, and just run the other for enjoyment.

Thanks for the advice - I will plan to do both - since I'm new to this, I don't have a PR, so my goal would be to fininsh in an upright position ahead of the balloon lady
