WDiW to spend 15 million dollars on Disney Transportation

It never fails to amaze me how people dismiss ideas on the basis of a cost/benefit analysis that doesn't address the benefit piece of the calculation.

It costs too much, so it shouldn't be done.

Since I do not swim in any pool even at the resort I stay at I will stay out of that particular debate but PLEASE tell me that the 'new' buses will have seats? I hate the new buses (except for the fact that it is easier to get in and out of them) because it is much harder to get a seat. Lord help me if Disney figures out that they can cram three more people in if they have no seats at all. (grin, cannot get the smilies to work)

Slightly Goofy

My perspective is and always has been that a monorail expansion that simply ties in the Studios and the AK is not beneficial to WDW. Without going to additional resorts, the benefit side of the calculation will not feel a boost. I cannot imagine a significant number of people making a decision to make or extend a trip to WDW because the monorail now goes to AK. They'll beef up occupancy and room rates at other resorts if monorail became an option.

Case in point, Contemporary. Check the Theme Parks or Resorts boards for polls on ugliest or least favorite resort and you might be surprised by the results. Yet, they pull in $200+ a night for the wing rooms. Why? Seems clear.

For myself, I'm not dismissing the benefit side, but we need to evaluate with somewhat realistic numbers.

But maybe it's because you can walk from there to MK.

The monorails are an excellent service, and greatly add to the conveinence of the parks. However, the bus system is much more important to expand right now. Although it is no question that the monorail draws people to the contemporary, where do you propose they expand the monorail to????Every deluxe, every moderate. It is not practical. Right now the buses travel to every single Disney resort and every single disney park. Their scope is much broader so the investment in them is much more important, right now.

It is impractical to believe that even if they expanded the monorail as far as possible, that it would still have the same effect as the buses. Right now, perfecting the bus system is more important than the monorail
