We are considering taking our 5 year old to one of the water parks when we visit in September. As many times as DH and I have been to WDW, we have NEVER been to either of the water parks. So we are not sure if it would be worth the money for us to go with DD. Which water park is better for kids? Please tell me your thoughts!

This is scdisfan DH.

We can't decide if we should spend the extra money this year or wait until she is older.

Will she be able to do most of the attractions with us?

Which one is better for her age group?

I think that Blizzard Beach is more geared towards smaller children but I have brought my kids to Typhoon Lagoon when they were small and they were entertained for hours there in the children section. We also went in the wave pool with me holding on to thier hands, they had a ball.

we took our 4.5 yrold and 2.5 yr old to blizzard beach in Feb and they both loved it. We spent the day in the childrens area though. We are going back and plan on doing both water parks in september as we had so much fun there...the lazy river was the only "adult" ride we did. My now 5 yr old doesn't ;like the splash in the face at the bottom of the watersiles you get when riding the larger ones.

So you think it was worth the price when you just stayed in the kids area?

When my DD was 6 we went to TL. She is small for her age and had no trouble going on most of the adult slides. We did get one of the lifejackets for her, which made both her and us more comfortable.

You have to judge whether your 5yo is adventurous enough for it to be worth while. The WP's are a ton of fun and make a great break in between park days. It is actually very relaxing.

I think TL better for everyone. BB is a concrete jungle. No shade, makes it feel hotter than it is. DD7 loves TL talks about family raft ride all the time. Kids area is fun. agree with PP get the lifejacket coming down in pool after slide can be scary for kids

Our family prefers BB. The kid's area is a lot of fun and the wave pool didn't seem as rough at BB as it is at TL. We always have a great time and think it is totally worth the money! We actually use it as a sort of rest day/break from the parks. (By the way our kids are now DS9, DD6, and DS16months)

I much prefer Blizzard Beach over Typhoon Lagoon for that age. My boys are too young to go in the wave pool at TL by themselves (5, 3 and 2) as I've seen grown men get knocked down by both the waves and other people so that leaves out a large part of TL.

BB has got a great family raft ride - it's really long and we ride it at least 4-5 times every visit. The kiddie area is a blast and the kiddie raft ride is a lot of fun for that age.

I personally think that TL is good for older kids who are great swimmers while BB is geared more to the younger crowd. We get there early, play, have lunch, float along the lazy river, play for another hour call it a day. There are things to do for every age at both parks, but I prefer BB over TL for the younger ones.

Use the "plus option" on your Magic Your Way ticket and it will not cost you the money for a ticket. It only costs you one of your plus options on each ticket. By doing this you could visit both parks depending upon how long you plan to stay.

These are all great! Thanks so much everyone for the input!

I think that we are going to give Blizzard Beach a try!
