Hi. We are going on our first cruise in January and I'm debating if we should book a dolphin encounter or dolphin swim (blue lagoon)?
Are the waters freezing in January or pleasant? I don't want to spend that kind of $ if we'll be too busy shivering to enjoy! ;)
Also for those who did the dolphin swim- can a 7 year old do that? Is the cost difference vs. a dolphin encounter and the dolphin swim worth it?

Thanks so much!

I would like to know also, I'm going in Feb. I live in South Florida and getting in the water is not an option.

We have cruised in January or February for the past several years. Last year it was a cools day, many stayed on board, few got in the water. We got off and had a fantastic day walking, biking, eating, relaxing, etc. The CMs told us the week before it had been hot and summer-like weather.

Every other time it has been nice and warm/hot, we did a lot of swimming and sunning.

The odds are in your favor, but you can get a cool snap as we did. Even so it was warm enough to spend a day ashore, and every other visit we've had has been perfect.

I have the same question about the two dolphin excursions. We've cruised in January before, but haven't done these excursions. And the weather was fantastic when we went, but we heard the cruise right after us couldn't even dock at CC because of weather. So it is hit and miss.

We have been lucky I guess. We have cruised the last two Januarys and it has been amazing weather at castaway. My young children swam both times and loved it. We are from Canada but my brother lives in florida and he thought the water temp was perfect both times. I think unfortunately it isn't always this warm, one year we had cool weather but there were still people in the water mostly people from up north I think! We always cruise in January due to work schedules and the need to escape the frigid cold!
