I think they are if they're securely on your feet. And a side note, wear water shoes at the beach in Cast Away Cay if the tide is low. I stepped on a sea urchin one year and had to visit the ship doctor twice to try to get all the spikes out of my heel.

We were just on the Magic in November and I was told I had to take off my water shoes on the slide. I also had to take off my Fitbit on the Aquadunk.

What about on the parasailing? It says to remove all shoes. Would that include water shoes?

We saw a man step on a sea urchin CC, poor guy.
I will never go shoeless in the ocean again.
I wouldn't walk back to the shore when I saw him, I got on my husbands back.

Off topic for a second, but I highly recommend waxing strips for this kind of issue. ER nurses in the American southwest swear by them for cacti injuries and I can attest that they also work for slivers. Now I'm sure procuring those strips might be a challenge on the cruise itself, but take it for what it's worth.

I always wear my water shoes and haven't been turned away by Disney with them on.
