I started a new FT job a few months ago and I've noticed something and I know it sounds odd, but I do not go to the bathroom as much as I used too both at home and work. I've not really changed my eating and I'm trying to exercise more, but I go to the bathroom when I first get up, then not until at least 10:30, once after lunch and then when I get home and once before bed. I used to go all the time and now I don't. What could be causing this? I'm starting to eat better and exercise - ok, just started walking over the holiday, but still, am I not drinking enough or what could be causing this change???

Thanks- Di:confused3:)

Hmmm, have you changed your fluid intake since you started your new job? Having a sedentary job will change your metabolism -- I was just reading this article from sparkpeople.com about how your job can affect your weight. http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/wellness_articles.asp?id=477 Increasing your exercise sounds like a good idea and adding some extra water wouldn't hurt either probably. If you continue to notice changes you may want to speak with your doctor, too. Good luck!

Is the job stressful. Perhaps your blood pressure has elevated it can cause water retention. Even in small increases.

I learned with weight watchers the best way to deal with water retention is to drink more water. Be sure your electrolytes are balanced too. Maybe try some Gatorade once a day for a few see if it helps.

I'll point at the new job. Your habits have changed. Maybe your up and about earlier and not really drinking or eating like you were. You may be drinking a little more caffiene than before and maybe you are eating out just a little more or eating pre-packaged foods at work.

All these can lead to what you are describing.

I would keepa bottle of water at your desk and amke a point to sip it down during hte morning and afternoon.

Remember 10 glasses a day is what you are aiming at especially if you are working out.
