have 15,14,and 12yr olds that would love to 'drive' a boat? where's the best place to rent some recreational boats...and how old do you have to be to 'drive'? We're staying at BWV

i know they recently changed motorized boat types at most of the lake/resort areas & minimums for driving them (16 with a license). although there is still the older motorized boats at some resorts which will allow younger drivers and there are the nonmotorized boats like canoes & pedal boats. they have boat rentals at the yacht club marina and swan&dolphin resort.

i would check with the marina first about what they can drive & the age minimums. yc 407-934-8000 ask to be transfered to the marina. swan&dolphin 407-934-3000/4000.

The boats at all of the resort marinas are now SeaRaycers by Sea Ray. You need to be 18 to rent the boats(the kids can't rent them by themselves), however, 12 yr olds who are at least 5' tall can drive the Sea Raycers by themselves. The exceptions to this are the MK area resorts. There you need at least one licensed driver in the boat.

The only watercraft available to rent at the S/D are the Swan paddle boats.
