We will have My mother with us on our WDW trip and she doesn't like her face wet. Can someone please tell me if one park is better then the other for the lazy river around the park? Is there waterfalls that you must go through on the trip around the park? Are there tunnels as she is also clostrophobic? should we attempt a half day with someone who isn't a big fan of water or bag it. Is there anything for her to do at either park? Also I have kids who are budding swimmers, can for the most part save themselves. Are the water parks too wild and will I feel like I have lost track of them? Lastly, I am conscious of the extra weight that I am packing will I feel terrible in a swim suit or will there be all shapes there. I have a mental image of very thin, tan, young people at the water parks am I wrong?

Thanks and keep smiling

Just was at Blizzard Beach yesterday, and have been to Typhoon Lagoon many times....And I'm with ya on the weight thing. Trust me, you won't feel tooo bad. You'll see all kinds. If you see someone thin, just look a couple people away and you'll feel better!!!! Both parks have the lazy river, but both have tunnels and water. She will get wet!!! They both have toddler type areas which are great fun, and somewhat secluded but close to the rest of the park. I didn't feel ever feel like I was loosing track of my DD2. You should definitely go...they are both great fun in my opinion. There are lots of places just to hang out, sun and shade...but get there early to mark your spot! So in the end, yes, there will be young, tan thin pretty people at the water park...but there will be more normal people there too! Maybe your mother can help keep track of the little ones in the toddler area...no tunnels there...and she won't get her face wet...unless it is a little one directing a squirting duck at her! REally...don't miss it, it is my youngest one's favorite park....(next to the magic kingdom!)

I imagine there are all shapes and sizes at the Disney water parks, don't remember thinking that I was way out of my league by being there.

There are tunnels and waterfalls on the lazy rivers. However there are also places to leave the river. If careful notes are taken, you could enjoy yourselves I guess but it probably will be hard to relax if you're constantly worried about getting your face wet.

First off, I am not a big water person. But, we always go to the water parks because we end up going to WDW in the summer and I love it. We usually end up going for the morning until around noon.

We love both parks, but my kids like TL the best. The wave pool is the thing that keeps them coming back.

BB is lots of fun too. You can find lots of things to do at both parks that doesn't cause you to get your face wet.

There are rides that have tubes and slides at both places that end up in water over your head (well over my head because I am only 5 ft. tall), but if you are worried about your kids swimming ability, you can get a swim vest to use for free (they do require you to have a credit card on account, but don't charge for it unless you take the vest with you).

There are all kinds of body types, so don't worry about feeling out of place in a bathing suit. No one paid any attention that I could tell, they were too busy having fun with their families.

There are tunnels on the lazy rivers at both parks, but they are large and wide.

thanks for the info. She doesn't mind being wet so much as bombarded by water. Are the waterfalls on the lazy river "walls Of Water" ?

Thanks again

Can't speak for TL don't remember haven't been there since I was 16 or 17. At BB there is one sheet most are just spouts of water kind of shooting out at you which you can easily avoid. I was able to block my daughter from a lot of it. The water feels very cold when it's so hot out.

Whatever you decide I am sure you will have a great time.

We love the waterparks, but DW also dislikes getting water poured on her face. Her strategy for the lazy rivers is to float until she gets near the caves, then walk through. This way she doesn't get as wet & gets through the cave quickly. At TL there is foam (?) padding on the rocks around the entrance to the surf pool. We enjoy sitting there watching people & having the waves splash around us. There are all ages, shapes & sizes at the parks--just relax & enjoy!

Do you ever see people wearing lightweight wetsuits during the cooler months? I always try to go to themeparks during offseason so hitting a waterpark offseason might mean getting cold. (FL wimp so get cold at anything below 82.)
