Hi, once again I need a little more info.!:) We have never went to the water parks because our DD uses a wheelchair fulltime.

What could she take part in at the water parks? Has anyone went to the water parks using a chair? We have never wanted her to feel left out, with nothing and the others enjoying.:confused3 I understand the slides would be a no, thats fine as long as she knows we will be taking her to do something!:thumbsup2

Any other ionfo. would be great! Thanks in advance! I have gained alot of useful info. on here! She never would have went on Soarin or Test track if not for here!;) She did TT3 times in a row! It was amazing to see her face!:wizard:

The lazy rivers have bump steps (Tl only at one entrance, BB at several) to allow access.

Both water parks have water wheelchairs they will loan which allows for entry int the wave pools.

TL has an elevator to the entry to Crush 'N Gusher. I have never done it so I don't know the methodology which would depend on the abilities of the diabled person. Likewise, BB does have one gondola in their lift for a wheelchair, and the empty chair is sent back down in that gondola. Again, I don't do water slides so I'm not sure of the exact procedures.

Thanks for the info.!!!!!!I will have to study the water parks.;) My other kids are getting excited at the thought of going to the water parks!;)

We went to Typhoon Lagoon this year and I have to say that I found it extremely frustrating with my scooter. It was hard to find an accessible way around in some places, no where to park and leave it that I felt comfortable with, and many of the CM's were not helpful and made it obvious that I was an inconvenience . However there were several that were absolutely wonderful and went out of their way for me. I was the only one with a wc or scooter that I saw there and for obvious reasons.

I would also be careful about the Wave Pool at Typhoon Lagoon, especially depending on what your child's medical condition is. Those waves are brutal and even where it is shallow they can really knock you around.

I haven't done Blizzard Beach since being in my scooter so I can't say anything about it.

Cheshire, I know that TL is where you are most, but boy did I find it really handicapped unfriendly. :headache:

What you can do will probably depend on a combination of your DD's age/height and her upper body stability. How old is she and how tall? Can she transfer herself and/or can you lift her easily? Also, can she hold her upper body steady without assistance? Crush n Gusher is a fun slide, but it has a height requirement and I wouldn't recommend it for someone who didn't have good upper body stability.

Actually I do not "do" water parks. I have been all over TL as I work at the front gate and needed to learn the park.

But normally when I am there I come onstage next to Leaning Palms, go over to Singapore Sal's and then to the gate area. And usually I work inside at either a ticket booth or Guest Relations. And I go out the same route and am able to keep my ECV parked backstage next to GR.

Thanks for the replies!:goodvibes

My DD is 17 and uses a wheelchair fulltime. She has no use of her legs. She transfers, with a lift from her Dad!:lovestruc She LOVES water! She can not swim but I would use a life jacket.;) She has full use of her arms but she is not really strong and has problems with fine motor. I like the thought of the lazy river! She would like laying in a tube and floating!:) Thats my speed too!:thumbsup2

I would probably recommend Blizzard Beach over TL. There is a Lazy River and a gentle wave pool. The lazy river is probably all that you would be able to do at TL.

My DS has CP and did well at BB. they have zero entry pools for kids and one leads into the lazy river and has lots of flotation vests available. there are several toddler areas that are great for splashing. DS was 18 on our last visit but no one gave us a problem in kiddie pools. paths were easy to navigate. Nice shade areas to keep him cool. Only problem was finding food he would eat!
