We are doing our first DVC stay June 30-July 6th and we wanted to head to a water park that weekend, we are debating on going to BB either Friday, July 2nd or Sunday, July 4th. Would the crowds be less on Sunday because everyone will be celebrating Independence Day in the theme parks or do you think Friday would still be less crowds at the water parks? Has anyone gone to a water park on 4th of July?

Thanks,:thumbsup2

I haven't gone to a water park on July 4 but I can tell you that the four parks will be slammed to capacity that day. I'd go to the water park first thing that morning and stake out the spot to relax that day.

Mornin Granny,

Just to piggy back op, Water parks in the summer time pretty much equal crowds.
We are generally August travelers and I can tell you Fridays can be just as crowded (remember even if you're not on vacation, some people will take a 3 day weekend).

Water park crowds imo, are a little different than theme park crowds. Generally people tend to keep moving except around the area of the chairs.
We love BB so I can tell you, shaded areas go super quick.

I thought I read some where, that BB will now allow you to rent out a "picnic area" for your party. Not sure of the details though.

We always get there an hour or more in advance so we can stake out our spot but we have never been during 4th of July weekend and was hoping someone can tell us about the crowds and if Friday July 2nd would be better then Sunday, July 4th?

One of the guides -- I can't remember which one -- advised hitting the water parks earlier in the week, Sunday or Monday or Tuesday.

Reasoning: most people arrive at WDW over the weekend, and begin their vacation by hitting the Big Four parks. So they don't hit the water parks until later in the week.

Of course, with this being the Mother of All Summer holidays, all bets are off.

But I tend to think, all things considered, you'll still fare better at a water park.

That's what we usually do but like we arrive Wednesday afternoon and Thursday we have our Wedding Planning with Disney we are left with Friday-Sunday...has anyone gone on 4th of July? Does anyone think the BB will be better Friday, July 2nd then Sunday, July 4th or in resverse?

We have been to Typhoon Lagoon every 4th of July for the last 10 years! Much better than any park. The guys go early and stake out our shaded area and then all the ladies, (after sleeping in) get there a couple of hours later. It is really not so bad on the 4th! Being we do not go any other day durring our trip, I can not really compare to other days.

How bad are the lines? Is the lazy river still relaxing or jammed pack?

I saw cabanas to rent out at Typhoon Lagoon this past weekend when I was there. But like eliza, I'm not sure of the details. They're probably pretty much the same at BB as they are at TL though.
