Water Parks in the Evening?

Do any of you go to Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach in the evenings? We've always hit the water parks at rope drop, & left mid-afternoon. I'm considering us arriving around 3 or 4pm for at least one of our water park days during our trip this August. The water parks will be open until 8pm. What are the crowds like in the late afternoon/early evening?

Also, I read a few weeks ago about a virtual queue system Disney was testing at the water parks. Is this currently in use? Thanks!

The biggest problem you'll run into is those late afternoon thunder storms. If they blow over, you'll have a relatively empty waterpark for the last hours.

They'll be the opposite of morning. It'll be very crowded when you get there at 3pm. But then it will steady start to decline. By time you hit 6pm, it'll be a pretty light crowd. By 7pm, it's just like the first hour...easy to get on anything you want.

Keep in mind that the sun starts to go down late afternoon/early evening, as do the air temps. Certainly, it's not "cold" in August at 6pm, but it's not overhead sunshine and 94. That means a lot of things will wind up in the shade. That can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how cold you get. DW gets goose bumps on her goose bumps, so we try to find slides that are still in the sun. For example, the lazy river at TL has a lot of spots with trees overhead. In the evening, it can get a bit cool if you're passing through those areas...and you've been in the water already for a while.
