Water Parks in February?? Is the "plus fun" ticket too good to be true?

Dumb question possibly....the cost of the 7 Day Hopper pass is the same as the 7 Day Water Plus Fun, pass (not sure of the title) w/o Hopper. If I undertand the ticket explanation, that means we can do one of the 4 parks for 7 days AND also pick one of the other "extra" attractions one per day for 7 days. Is this right, because if so, it seems to good to be true??!! Esp since it's the same price of the "hopper" feature. No that we would, but conceivably you could go to the theme park each morning, have lunch and do one of the "others" each afternoon/evening. Right?

And of course the burning question for me is.... will it be too cold in the last week in February for water parks anyway? I do NOT like to walk around with goose bumps all day

Yes and more.

Regarding Magic Your Way tickets with water park fun:

Blizzard Beach in the morning, Typhoon Lagoon in the afternoon (only) -- Uses zero days and two fun visits with or without hopping.

Blizzard Beach in the morning, Epcot in the afternoon -- Uses one day and one fun visit with or without hopping.

If a multi-day ticket already has hopping, adding the water park fun costs about $23. (also vice versa).

A ticket without hopping or water park fun or non-expiration is called a base ticket.

Even though a 10 day ticket with water park fun has 20 things (the official term is entitlements) on it, its lifetime, after you start using it, is still 14 days without non-expiration.

If you plan to spend one or two complete days of your 7 day vacation at the fun venues (minor parks) you might need only a 6 or 5 day ticket. But if you spend many short sessions at the fun venues then you may need to add back more days on your ticket to produce enough fun admissions (maximum of ten).

On average, even in February, there are at least two days where the temperature goes above 70 F. However once I was there in December and there was only one day over 70 in a 10 day span. You can also go to Disney Quest, or, before 4:30 PM, do mini-golf (one course is just outside Blizzard Beach).

I re-read this and see it may seem confusing to others - I realize that it's NOT a hopper and you can't do more than one of the 4 main theme parks per day. I see my post was rambling on and hard to follow, sorry. "lack of coffee" brain

Usually 1 of the waterparks are down for refurb in Feb. We have gone to Disney twice in Feb once the beginning and once was the last week and we didn't visit the waterpark either time.

We usually vacation late Januarly/early February and hit whichever water park is open pretty much every trip. The key is to be flexible. You probably won't know which day of your trip is going to be warm enough until you're there. We don't normally get the DDP, so we don't have a lot of ADRs to work around. We usually stay for 8 - 10 days so we have a spare day or two for the water park and DQ.

The water park hours are 10 am - 5 pm at that time of year, and the warmest part of the day is 12 noon - 4 pm, so you can't plan to go in the evening after the parks. Disney Quest has longer hours, maybe 11:30 am - 11:00 pm or something like that.

We keep the water in all the slides and pools around 80F (27C) except for Shark Reef which does not have heaters. What you want is a day that will be bright and sunny and preferably not windy.

If you go on a day that is heavily overcast you will not be able to take advantage of any radiant heating (from the sun) or on a windy day (especially with a dry wind from the North) you will get hit by wind chill.

But a day with the highs in the mid-50s or above which is sunny and calm most people (at least from Northern climates) should be comfortable.

This post includes the assumption you have a ten day MYW ticket with both the Park Hopper and Water Park Fun and More (WPF&M) options.

(Note, if you have a ticket of fewer than ten days, insert the number of days you have any time you see the number "ten" in this post.)

Hopefully this will make it a little clearer. In effect you have two tickets with different privileges on one card. Everything expires 14 days after first use unless you have the no-expire (NE) option. If you have the NE option all the entitlements are good until they are used up. Even if you use up all your major park days, the WPF&M entries
remain valid until used. (Note you do not have to use the days consecutively.)

You have ten days of access to the four major parks (AK, DHS, EC, MK), and may visit more than one major park on a single day without any extra charges. Without the Park Hopper option you can only go to one major park per day.

You have ten entries to the minor parks (BB, DQ, OT, TL, WWS, FG, WSL). These may or may not be used on the same days as you go to the major parks. However, if you went to TL in the morning, Oak Trail* in the afternoon, and Disney Quest in the evening of one day you would have used three of the ten entries. (Note that leaving and returning to the same minor park on the same day does not use an extra entry.)

If you go to minor parks only on one day and do not go to a major park you do not use up one of your major park days.

If you were to go to a Water Park in the morning and then one of the major parks for the remainder of the day you would have used one minor park entry and one day of major park entry.

Note that with the MYW ticket unless you have the hopper option you can only go to one major park per day. Unless you have the WPF&M option you cannot go to a minor park without upgrading or purchasing a separate ticket.

*Oak Trail is a nine-hole "Executive" walking (no carts) golf course. Each person must
have their own set of clubs and they can be rented for $15 per person if they don't bring their own.

And, if you have either hopping or WPF&M on a ticket, to add the other option is only $23.43 including tax per ticket to add the other option.

We found Feb to be chilly the first few days of our holiday and then warmer later on. We're doing two water parks this time, so hope it'll be nice and warm!

I can't comment on all of your questions, but Feb is very hit and miss as far as water parks go. Hubby and I went Feb 11-18 and mornings were COLD and WINDY, around 60 degrees if that. Afternoons warmed up but only twice during the time we were there did we feel it was summer-like weather.

Also, one of the water parks will be closed for refurbishment in February. This happens every year and they alternate which one is closed each year I believe. So, if you would be okay paying for the water park option but only have access to 1 of the water parks, then it would be fine. I would want access to both parks if I were to pay for it.

If you may only want to visit a water park once during your trip, you are better off (at least I'm pretty sure) purchasing separate 1-day passes for the water park.

We have done the water park in February a couple of times. There is usually only 1 water park open during that time of year and the other one is closed for refurbishment. We have only done Typhoon Lagoon because that was the one that was open. For years our trips were always in late Jan., early/mid February or early March but, once our oldest started High School she did not want to be pulled out of school so now we head down at the end of June after school breaks for the summer. February weather can be a bit tempermental. On almost all of our trips the weather was warm most days (70's during the day and 50's at night) but our luck ran out in February 2010, that was a pretty chilly week. The coldest day we had during that February trip the temp at 8am at Orlando Airport was 28 degrees with the windchill! We drive down so we would always pack extra sweatshirts gloves etc and we really needed them that week. The highest temp that entire week was 60 degrees(I think) and the nights were pretty brisk and the water park was closed at least 3 days.
You can still swim at the resorts even if it's cold because the pools are heated.
I agree with a previous poster that said you won't really be able to plan your water park days until you are down there so make sure you keep an eye on the weather channel and jump on the opportunity to hit the water park when you see a decent temp day.

Too cold for my taste, but I like it hot. Anything 80 or below is too chilly for me.
