I'll be in the World next Aug. & will be bringing along my mother who is in her late 60's. I know Aug. is going to be terribly hot & I'm definatley planning on going to the water parks. I'm wondering though if there will be anything Mom can do there? She won't be going down any water slides that's for sure, & even the wave pool will be too rough for her I think. Is there anywhere that she could just relax & swim? Does anyone have any experience with bringing an older person to water parks? Did they enjoy it?

TIA! :)

I've never been to the WDW water parks but I've been to Sesame Place and it had several "sprinkler playgrounds" for kids to get wet and play. If you have young kids that your mom can play with so she doesn't look silly playing in there all by herself, she might like that. She might like the lazy river. Just watching the kids have fun and relaxing on a lounge chair near somewhere she can get wet instead of hoofing it through the parks might be a welcome break.

Just a note from our experiences. I've found that Blizzard Beach has more walking from place to place than Typhoon Lagoon. This is an issue for us because of my dad's foot problems. I'm not sure if this would be a problem for your mom, but just in case I figured I'd mention it. :)

She would probably like the lazy river, and I agree with the prev. poster who mentioned TL has a bit less walking than BB. She might like to just pull up a chair and lounge, perhaps near the wave pool and the kiddie area, esp. if you are bringing any kids along for her to watch and enjoy.

Well, my father, who is 77 (78 in September) and my stepmother (62) are going to Disney World with friends and the only thing they are going to do is a water park. Probably Typhoon Lagoon.

My father cannot walk very far without resting. Going up a hill is a challenge for him. He's thinking about having his left knee replaced after having the right one done a few years ago. He also is thinking about a hip replacement.

The wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon is not on all the time. My mother, who was deadly afraid of water, would sit on the beach and let the waves come to her. When the big waves started, she went back and read her book.

The lazy river is great. Your mother doesn't even have to get into a tube. She can just walk it. There are some stupid people in there but she can wait over to the side while they pass. I'm not sure of all the rules of the kidde pool but I highly doubt someone is going to throw her out from enjoying sitting there.

Heck, she might even want to do the Shark Reef.

She can take a good book to read but I doubt she'll get through a chapter.

Thank you all for the replies. :goodvibes

disnut8, I did not realize you didn't have to have a tube in the lazy river. I was thinking she might like the lazy river but would probably have trouble getting in & out of the tube. Are there any deep areas that may be over her head if she is walking?
