Water park accessibility question

My daughter is 13 and has Spina Bifida and uses a wheelchair. She can stand for a short time, take a few steps, and can transfer, but can not safely climb. She loves the water, and swims. We would also take a life vest.

Our daughter also has PTSD, so she does not like crowds or people “staring” at her. She was adopted from a Chinese orphanage 3 years ago.

Wondering if one of the water parks would be fun for her, or if there wouldn’t be enough to do. How crowded are they? We will be going in June. Is one park better than the other? Are there paths to the water, or must you make your way through sand?

Thank you!
Kim

The water parks can be very crowded.
Have you thought about staying at the Yacht and Beach hotel. Beautiful pool and a lot less crowded than the water parks.

We actually stayed there 5 years ago, and it is beautiful, but now that there are six of us, we would need 2 rooms, so we can’t afford it. We are staying at Bonnet Creek. Thank you!

You could rent points (checkcl the DVC rent and trade boards here) tot stay at Beach Club Villas and stay in a single room for probably close to the cost of staying at Bonnet Creek. Just a thought to look into.

Single unit, aka two bedroom villa.
Actually, a one bedroom can handle 6 people, 4 in the bedroom and 2 in the living room area.

A studio generally is 5, although a couple resorts can do 6 in a studio now, not that I would want to do that many in a studio.

Not all 1 bedroom DVC rooms allow 6. As a matter of fact, a lot only allow 4 (2 in the bedroom in the king bed and 2 on the pullout in the living room). I checked the Beach Club point chart on the DVC Member site and it is a 1 bedroom that only allows 4 people, so would not work. Original poster would need a 2 bedroom at Beach Club that which would then allow 8 total. I checked Bay Lake which is a larger capacity 1 bedroom and it only allows 5 people.

Thank you, but we already looked into this, and we need 2 Rooms due to having 5 Adults and 1 teen.

Ok, but even a 2 bedroom could quite possibly be rented for a similar price to offsite stays, just a thought.

Oh so sorry to send your question in the wrong direction.
So to answer what you asked.
The water parks can get crowded. Many days during the summer they fill to capacity by 20am but around 3:00 they tend to get slower. They sell a after 3:00 (maybe 2:00) year pass because of this.
The Castaway Creek at Typhoon Lagoon is great(you float in a inner tube) and so is the wave pool. There are sidewalks all around the park but a lot of sand areas also.
