Watching planes at Orlando airport

When I was in Orlando in the early 90"s with our high school band, there was an area at the end of a runway where your could park along the side of the road and watch the planes either land or takeoff. They would come right over your head. I vaguely remember seeing this and our bus driver telling us about it. Is that still there and exactly where is it if it is?

This area is still there, but it is now fenced off so no one can stop and park - been closed off since 9/11

You can still get a good view of the runways with a window seat at McCoys's bar & grill inside the airport Hyatt, or in early evening, get a grandstand view from Hemisphere restaurant on the 8th floor.
