Watching fireworks from Fantasmic viewing spot

Just weighing up my night time entertainment options for our September trip - of all the new night time shows I am most looking forward to the fireworks. We weren't going to worry about Fantasmic this trip but I'm now considering doing the Blue Bayou Fantasmic dinner package and staying in our spots for the fireworks.

How good is the view of the fireworks from there? Also the projections - are there projections in that area or just on Main Street? Would we be better off battling for a spot on Main Street? (am looking for an easier option with 3 kids). We were planning on a dinner at Blue Bayou anyway so happy to eat there.

I just did the BB Fantasmic dinner package last Wednesday and stayed to watch the fireworks. I thought it was absolutely worth it. My DS4 and DS6 couldn't have handled waiting for the view from Main Street. As it happens, my mother-in-law watched Disneyland Forever from MS, then from that BB viewing area. She said the view of the fireworks was best from MS, but the projections were best from BB's Fantasmic viewing area. For Disneyland Forever, they project onto the water screens. It's a perfect view. They even project the chimney sweeps dancing. It also will "snow" on you as well. I thought the view of the actual fireworks was really good, even though I hadn't watched it from Main Street. And you have room to sit and spread out.

This is good to know! I'm thinking of doing this when we are there, but then maybe trying to see them from the hub one night too. We'll have to balance it with WOC also, because that's been one of my husbands favorite. Last trip he wanted to see WOC every night, but we didn't have the new parade and awesome fireworks to try to see to either!

DisneyGeek posted some photos of Disneyland Forever from the green FP viewing area for F! (the green area is on the PotC bridge, so it won't be exactly the same view as the BB F! dining pacakge viewing area, but it'll give you a sense of the angles and the mist screen projection quality).

Thanks for linking to that! Looks OK, not as good as the view from Main St., but with DS7 it will be nice to have a sitting down spot. Also, he hasn't seen F! yet and I know he'll love it!

Just back from Disneyland. The Fantasmic dinner at Blue Bayou was the best meal of our trip (and we ate at Carthay Circle twice--very disappointed) and the viewing area was great for both Fantasmic and the fireworks. My DD and I agree that our favorite fireworks spot was by Small World. We watched from Main Street, Fantasmic, and Small World.

Love the F! links. I was wondering how they'd add all the cool stuff on the water. Using the spray jets will be cool. But I'm glad to know about the Small World viewing location. Might be a good spot after the parade without all the madness of Main Street.

We did the BB F! package last week. I could tell more about the projections at the F! viewing area. The fireworks were just okay from there to me. The best part was not feeling like you were packed in like a can of sardines. We did stand on Main Street to watch the fireworks later during the week also.

We're also going in September and will likely do the BB F! package on our only weekend night of our trip, so staying put for fireworks seems like our best bet. I've got 3 young kids and would love to limit wait times and crowding as much as possible. To me, being able to watch the fireworks (even if it's not the best location) from that spot is an added value to spending so much on the package. I'm so happy to hear that the fireworks view is decent!!

Thanks for all the replies, sounds like the plan will work - now to convince the kids they will love dinner at BB as much as they loved the dessert boxes last time we saw Fantasmic.

It's an okay view. And if you never see them from Main St then you wouldn't know the difference ;) But it's so much better to be able to see the castle and the Matterhorn.
