They just changed our return flight in May. We were on a non-stop and now we have a stop and we get home 3hrs later than the original flight. The weird thing is that our plane wasn't a Max so guess they are scrambling to cover all the flights. They also removed our EB check in. Our non-stop going down is still good.....so far anyway. Now for a phone call I dread....ugh. Ty SW.

Both directions got changed for us.

Outgoing, we were changed from a non-stop to two stops (and sitting most of the day in Baltimore). Returning, we were moved to a later non-stop flight.

I called- it was pretty painless actually. They got us off that horrible outgoing itinerary by putting us on a non-stop flight one day earlier. Didn’t have to pay any difference in fare.

Good to know. Ty!

Southwest announced that they have removed Max 8 aircraft from their schedules through June 7.

Flight schedulers had to move some aircraft to cover the lost Max 8 routes. If they extend another month then I would have to check my flights.

My return flight changed weeks ago for my July trip.
We're a bit disappointed because we are staying club level and booked the latest flight out anticipating we would be able to have some dessert and drinks prior to taking DME but now our flight was backed up from 11:05pm to 9:30pm which means we will miss drinks and desserts.

Have you checked your flights lately?
My July 26th flight changed on like March 14th.

Those who posted above...

Curious, did you receive email notifications of the flight changes?

Yes all of the flights they had marked as SOLD OUT a week and a half ago got rescheduled over night. Be thankful they notified you now and not while you were on vacation like some others the last few weeks.

Our return flight also got changed from non stop to a stop so you're not alone in that.

Our May flight going down was only modified by 5 minutes (which is great because it is already at night and a surprise trip for our kids) but our return flight was cancelled and rescheduled for 3 hours later. I can't complain because it was still non-stop. Did someone say that they already have modified July flights? We have an anniversary trip planned in July and I am hoping that we will be okay on that one if we haven't received an email yet. I just hope once they modify them that they won't continue to do so over and over again.

Yes my late July flight was modified several weeks ago.
Its still the last flight out and still non stop. It would not have been an issue at all in my mind except that we are staying club level and wanted to take advantage of that as much as possible.
We'll at least still be able to piece together some dinner but sad about missing out on desserts.

How much would you have really been able to enjoy anyway with an 11:05pm departure? They pick you up 3 hours ahead of time, so your pick up time would have been shortly after 8pm. The desserts and drinks don't come out until 8pm. If it is any consolation, you can get drinks at anytime just by asking. And, on our trip last year, the desserts at CL were really mediocre. We were at the BC and also the Contemporary last July. The desserts at BC were the exact same every single night.

True. For some reason I thought I read 7:30pm for desserts but I see its 8pm.
But I will be the judge of wheather I'm happy with the desserts or not.

I just posted this on the pinned thread at the top:

I got an email early this morning that our May 15th flight from Hartford to Orlando had been cancelled and rebooked. We originally had a one hour layover in Baltimore, but the second leg was apparently cancelled. The rebooked flight involved an extra stop, going from Hartford to Baltimore to Rochester (NY) to Orlando.

Another alternative was a 3-1/2 hour layover in Baltimore instead of going to Rochester.

I looked at all the other options and ultimately requested they book us on a nonstop out of Providence, which took them forever to change, but they finally did it for us. :)

There was a 75 minute wait on the phone to get a SW agent, but thankfully they will put you in a virtual queue so you don't have to wait on hold the whole time. Instead, they call you back. (Then I had to call back for another 60 minute wait, because according to the second agent, the first agent made a mistake and missed a step on the rebooking.)

The downsides to this itinerary change are that we now have to drive to Providence (which is a longer drive for us than Hartford), and I also had to switch the return flight to Providence, which gets back much later than our original flight (after midnight).

At least both flights are now nonstop direct flights, so that will hopefully minimize the chances of any further hiccups.

P.S. Whenever I started to get upset about the situation, I thought of the passengers and crew of the planes that crashed. There are worse things than being inconvenienced while on vacation...

I check daily. I booked just before the Max groundings. I’m flying from PIT on a nonstop and all flights from PIT were on a -700 or -800 while the Maxs were still flying. There are many flights between MCO and PIT so if one or two got cancelled then we would be fine. We could also use CMH or CLE. But we are flying out in the first week of July and seeing the above posts about late July modifications seems all may be Ok.

If anyone wants more information I highly suggestion going to the main SWA thread--https://www.disboards.com/threads/post-all-sw-questions-concerns-etc-here.2500174/page-222

You can skip towards the end of the thread (which the link will take you to the last page of the thread) though this has been going on ever since they announced the grounding of MAX planes in the middle of March.

Lots of good information and experiences from other posters on the thread (again towards the end of the thread is where you'll find information on the flight cancellations).

Both trips we have in April and May have changed. Not thrilled with the new times either, but they kept us on nonstop as we had been booked. Worried that we lost our EBCI spots though as we are on new flights. Ugh.

I have been watching our flights closely. I was notified by email for each person in our party as I booked them separately so we could use points.
