We just returned from a week long trip with my 6 yo dd and 2 yo ds. When we ordered for ds, we paid out of pocket. At WCC, my dh handled the bill and didn't notice that they used one of my dd's dining credits for my 2 yo. When we went to check out at Park Faire on the last night, we had no child credits left and had to pay out of pocket for the meal.:scared1: The front desk at POP was able to fix this, but it was a real pain.

BTW...WCC was not my favorite place. The food was soooooo greasy!JMHO:confused3

Thanks for the head's up. When we go in Sept, our DS will be 2 1/2 and is big for his age. Since we will be dining at a few all you care to eat places, I know it is a possibility that it will happen. I will for sure keep an eye on those credits!

I've seen a few posts like this. Makes me nervous for my August ADR there as we will have a very big toddler with us...:worried: I will definitely keep a close eye on my credits.

The same thing happened to us at WCC,too. They charged my DD,8, as an adult credit and I never noticed. When we got to our last table service meal at DHS at mama melrose and I gave the card they said I had no adult credits left, only 1 child credit. They made some phone calls and figured it out but it took about 1/2 hour and was a big pain.

We had it happen a couple times in 2005 when my DD was 2. She's also tall for her age. The fastest and easiest way to fix it is to notice at the restaurant. Crystal Palace charged us a credit for her, but when we pointed it out, our CM ran right back and added the credit back immediately and the receipt reflected it.

I can't remember what restaurant charged us a credit for her and we had to fix it at the concierge desk at CSR, but even that wasn't a big deal and only took the CM about 2 minutes to fix.

We didn't have any problems w/ this in November (6yo and 2yo) but it was ds' 2nd birthday so maybe that gave them a bit of a heads up?

Okay, I am NOT NOT NOT putting the 'blame' for this on the OP's DH... but he didn't notice the dollar amount on the room charge or credit card slip he was signing?

Also, your remaining credits are printed at the bottom of your final receipt ('your' meaning everyone, not just the OP), so this is an EXCELLENT way to determine at least quickly, if not right at the table, that such a mistake was made by the restaurant.

It was ABSOLUTELY a mistake on the part of the restaurant. I'm just curious :)

Even if you check your receipts religiously, you can still be surprised. It happened to us on our last night ( afew years back), at Narcoossee's. I (totally my fault!) failed to notice that they had charged us 2 Kid and 4 adult credits. My DM and I had shared our meal. I think she (the server) just made an honest mistake. I had figured everything out just right so we had enough credits left for my DD's birthday breakfast at PF. The error left us with only 1 kid credit and no adults ones. :scared1: I noticed when we got back to our resort and tried to call Narcoossee's. By this time it was after 10 p.m., and they didn't answer the phone. I spoke to a nice CM at GF and she said the concierge at POP could handle it in the a.m. I had my DM handle it while I packed in the a.m. and everything was handled easily. It was an important lesson-always check your receipts. Even on your last night.

The only other time we had an issue was our first time on the plan (Jan 05-paid for DDP) and we had shared a meal at Spoodles. Our server (who wasn't very pleasant during the entire meal) charged us for 1 too many meals. Luckily, I noticed it before we left and the manager at Spoodles handled it and made sure our credits were adjusted. These were the only 2 times we've had a problem and we've now had the plan 4 times. This Sept. will be our 5th time using DDP.

I just returned from a stay at OKW on the DDP with me, my 2 juniors, my adult sister, and my 1 yo neice. At both the Garden Grill and 'Ohana, my infant niece was charged as a child even though we ordered nothing for her.
We brought it to the attention of the waitstaff, and they claimed that that they had pressed the wrong button. OK, they fixed it and I believe them, since we were listed as a party of 4 adults, and no children dining credits wise.
Check that receipt folks!

I has this happen a few times last trip, but it was at counter service restaurants. I always check my credits as soon as they give me the receipt and was able to nip it in the bud right then.

Hi - I am SOOO new to this. I have not been to WDW since '92 & it was an offsite visit and we never dined at the park except for lunch. I am going with my DH, MIL & 4 yr old twins. I thought I could save a child dining credit here & there with the twins but when I talked to someone on @ the dining ressie #, they told me that you could not share meals.

Is that just the rule of thumb for TS credits or for all credits?

Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated as I am getting all my knowledge from you guys and I am getting very educated!!!!
THANKS!:rotfl:

You can definitely share CS meals, I know for sure. I have never tried to share TS meals but it wouldn't hurt to ask your server, they have the last say in it.:)

Okay, first, despite what a CM told you - often, we know more than they do :umbrella: (in case there are any reservation CMs reading this :))

Now, you CAN share meals among members of your party on the Dining Plan (except buffets, all-you-can-eat selections/locations like the skillet at WCC or CRT breakfast), and, rarely an occasional restaurant may not let you. They may interpret the no-sharing rule more strictly than most other locations.

But, that said - yes, you can ABSOLUTELY split one CS meal between two children. The person who takes the order, the one who preps it, and the one who 'plates' it, have no idea - and don't actually care - if there are more people in your party than meals you're ordering.

Hi - For our trip in September, we will be dining with two other families who are also on the dining plan but on separate room reservations.

Everyone has a different number of adults and children under each reservation. What happens here? Do we tell the waiter how many of each type of credit (adult versus child) to take off of each of the three room cards when we go to pay the bill? Or do they keep the tabs separate in this case even though we are at the same table? We will be dining together a couple of times during our stay.

Thanks for your help!:)

My DM and I, or DD8 and myself, have shared many CS & TS meals on DDP. We've used the plan 4 times now (first time we paid for it! :confused3 ). The very first time we used the plan (Jan. 05) the only problem we had with sharing was if they had rung us up with a (non-alcoholic) beverage each. This was explained to us as how the system did the credits. If you ordered 2 drinks for adults (non-alcoholic) and 1 for a kid, then you would be charged 2A/1K credit for your meals. Once we knew this we made sure we only ordered 1 A beverage if we were sharing. This worked fine as sometimes my DM would order wine, which isn't covered anyway. If we did order another beverage, we would pay for it OOP. I don' think this is how it's done anymore.

We always make sure we explain to our server if we are sharing, and we haven't had a problem. Noone has said no, you can't. :goodvibes My DM and I share meals all the time, even here at local restaurants. We've shared meals at Kona, Spoodles, Narcoossee's, 50's PTC, etc. We've also saved DD8's credits by paying for her OOP at some of the 2 TS restaurants. This way what with the A credits we've saved by sharing, and paying for some K meals OOP, we've been able to experience more restaurants. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 And, just like at home, if we hare a meal, we tip more (if service is good) than the standard percentage.

As far as CS goes, of course you can share-there's no way they know how many people are eating off the meals you get.

Also, I've read that you're not allowed to use your credits for someone not on the plan. Knowing this, when my DNiece25 joined us 1/2 way through our trip, I figured we would have to pay OOP for her meals, unless she shared. Well, when we dined at Boma's I told the server we would be paying for her OOP and he asked why, "are you out of credits" I explained why and he said it wasn't a problem. We had 3A/1K on our DDP, so with 4A/1K eating he would just run 1A through on a separate ticket. This was an unexpected surprise. He even asked me who told him we couldn't use more credits for one meal than we had people listed on our card. Funny, huh?

Anyway, don't sweat it, you can share. And with the previous plan inc. appetizers, sharing was the only was DM and I could save room for dessert. :cloud9: With appetizers now not inc. this won't be as big a problem. :rotfl2: Of course we'll still share, expecially those places where we'll have to order an appetizter (OOP) since they're so good-like the Sticky Chicken Wings at Kona, or the Calamari at Narcossee's. Yum!

Happy Dining!

As far as how to handle a large group dining with 3 different reservations-I think they'll want to run each of your's on separate bills. I don't see how else they could do it and not make a huge mess of things.

Separate checks is the way to go! :cool1:

SO many people just sign and go, it is amazing. I work for a retailer, and one one of the clerks accidentally added an extra 0 to the amount she was punching into the bank machine. well, this guy has great credit because the charge went through.

FOR $22,000 instead of $2200!!!

I caught the error the next morning when reconciling the books and immediately credited him, but why oh why didn't HE catch the error at the time he was signing?

I wish I could say this was an isolated instance, but it wasn't.
