Day 2: Breakfast with Pooh & a Lapu Lapu - Or Two!!!


We knew we had to be up and about pretty early as we were scheduled to breakfast with Pooh & Friends at just after 8am!!! Wow - how did I ever agree to that??? Anyway, alarms were set and, rather surprisingly, we were strolling along to the Magic Kingdom right on schedule. One of the attractions of this early slot was the chance to get some MK shots without the MK crowds already in situ - and that's what Claire did..

Hey you forgot to mention that Clumsy Claire had not even made it from Bay Lake Tower to the Magic Kingdom without incident......Yes I had a huge blister on the sole of my foot before I had even stepped foot in a park on the first day!!! I am a nightmare!


I was trying to be ...er.. tactful!!! Didn't want to point the finger quite so early...

Anyway I sure did take some pics, unfortunately the sky was a bit grey this morning but you can't not take pics of an empty Main Street just because of the grey sky....

And she only made act as the tripod twice...

We meandered up Main Street en route to The Crystal Palace and enjoyed a few PhotoPass opportunities at the top…

Maybe I should start by mentioning that today was one of the annual Gay Days at WDW. And possibly I should add that both Claire & myself were wearing pink. All I'm going to say is that the sight of these two fun-loving laydeez seemed to over-stimulate our photographer's imagination and he jumped to conclusions that we were more than just (ahem) good friends!!!

Not to worry, Minnie and I (yeah, I got the butch Daisy role in our same gender relationship) posed like good un's and spent so long with the guy, I started to worry all the brekkie goodies would be gone!!!

Looking back it was so funny but at the time we were so not amused, standing on Main Street doing Minnie Mouse & Daisy poses, all we wanted was a cup of Coffee!!!!! Anyway in hindsight we got some great Photopass pics...

Eventually I dragged Minnie ..er.. Claire away from Mr. PhotoPass, we checked in for our ADR and were called virtually immediately! And so we encountered the first (of many) fab surprises we encountered during this trip. Approaching our table, I spotted that it was decorated with Mickey confetti. We looked at each other, ever-so-slightly puzzled, but sat down anyway and got ready to enjoy our first character interaction of the trip..

I should say it was my first ever character meal (other than Cinderella's Royal Table which doesn't count as they are face characters) and I really enjoyed it. PHEW!!!

The 100 Acre Wood residents came thick and fast…

….but I still found time to stuff my face!!! Especially at the end of the meal, when our server presented us with Birthday cards AND cupcakes!!!

They were such a lovely start to the trip and to our early birthday celebrations.

You certainly did stuff it in your face, I took the photo to prove it!!!

It was at this point that I remembered adding our birthdays as celebrations on our original DVC booking some months before!!! D'oh!!! So that's what was happening… Claire proffered her Tables in Wonderland card and we paid the reduced bill before escaping out into the Magic Kingdom.. Where we took some mildly amusing pics…

…before heading back to Bay Lake Tower, opting to get in the Beast and drive to Downtown Disney. Yes you guessed it, time to SHOP, people!!!

I was absolutely desperate to go Disney Shopping & couldn't wait any longer!!!!

You're telling me!!! We hit the ground running at the Marketplace, keen to investigate all the tempting goodies available to us. Nothing new there then BUT what happened next was so incredible, amazing and downright gobsmacking, it turned our whole trip into a SPENDFEST!!! Well, for Claire anyway.. First, let me explain that the previous evening I purchased as planned the recently introduced Premier Passport as, within the year, I would be visiting Disneyland as well as WDW. What I failed to realise was that the Premium APs were wielding a hefty 20% discount at most stores within WDW - not just World of Disney in DTD… I don't know how Claire discovered this but discover it she did and the credit card maxing began!!!!

I can sniff out a bargain from a mile away! The only downside was you had to buy all my stuff - shame I had to pay you back!!

It was a Goooooooooooood day!!!

We had lots of fun wandering around the different stores but time was a-ticking and before too long we realised we really had to get back to BLT. We staggered up to the room with all the bags, then set about freshening up and making ourselves beeootiful. That took a long time! After all, we were meeting a certain Ms (& Mr) Mouse at the Tambu Lounge for Lapu Lapus!!! We caught the monorail over to the Polynesian…

And were spied by Mandy in yes, you've guessed it, the shop!!! We passed a fun couple of hours clutching pineapples and chatting away…

…before Mandy and Paul had to head off to EPCOT for their ADR. We finished our drinks and caught the monorail to the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa where we popped into Mizner's Lounge for a quick Kir Royale - well, it had been 24 hours since our last one!!!

We strolled over to Narcoossees for our 7pm ADR and, after a short wait, were seated at yet another beautifully decorated table. Now, I haven't been here for years but this evening's experience totally blew me away!!! Not only was the table sprinkled with Mickey confetti but also our menus were presented to us as personalised mementos of the evening!!! I too was blown away by the menu's, such a lovely keepsake.

Oh and the food was sensational!!! Cue the food porn…It didn't take you long to get used to me shouting "Don't eat it!!! I need a piccie!!!" That's what you think - I'm still quite traumatised TBH..

Once the delicious meal was over we decided to go back to BLT, watch the Summer Nightastic Fireworks… It was perfect timing as just as we reached the Contemporary to BLT bridge they started, so we stood on the bridge & watched:

Post-fireworks, we headed up to bed as we were more than a little tired and needed to make sure our credit cards got the rest they deserved as who knew what action they'd see tomorrow...
