At the end of this May, Orlando will be home to the National Teaching Institute (NTI) for Critical Care Nurses at the Orange County Convention Center. I am an RN with a certification in Critical Care nursing, and need to renew it in September, and since I am still a few education credits away from renewal, and NTI is such a wealth of knowledge, and I had a blast last year in Chicago I have convinced my husband to let me go. It also helps that I am on our local AACN chapters board and will get my registration reimbursed by attending a Leadership Deveolpment workshop.
So the convention is from Saturday to Thursday, and I am coming to town late Saturday and my flight home is not until late Friday there is only one thing to do, and that is head on over to the World. The convention is over about 1:00pm on Thursday, but I plan to seek off a little early by attending just two educational sessions instead of the three that are offered.
I have justified this side trip to WDW to my husband and children as a pure chance of saving money on our future trip, as we are planning on going to WDW the week after Thanksgiving. I plan to look into a bounce back offer while there.
Here are my plans for the time that I am in Orlando:
Arrive late Saturday May 19, staying at a hotel close to the OC Convention Center.
Sunday May 20 An all day leadership workshop at the Peabody Hotel, after this is done, the fellow nurses and I that I am staying with will head to DTD and then get a bit of Disney Magic in by heading off to a late dinner reservation at Ohanas at the Poly.
Monday-Wedneday May 21-23 I vow to be a good girl and do what I came to FL to do and that is to attend the convention that I came all the way from WI to attend. I will get the chance for a little fun, as Wednesday night we have "Nurses Night Out" at Seaworld. All the times that I have been to FL, I have yet to go to Seaworld, so I am pretty excited for it, and my kids are jealous.
Thursday May 24 Here it is the day that I have been waiting for, I will get up have my bags packed, check on out of the hotel, take my bags with me, as if I remember right there is a place set up at the convention to hold my bags, head off to 2 out of 3 learning sessions, then grab my bag and snag a cab to move on into Pop Century for the night. I have also ways wanted to stay here, but my hubby is a resort snob and only likes to stay at the deluxes. I have one night with two day park hoppers and deluxe dining booked.
After checking in, I will hope my room is ready, drop off my bags, find the number to call for the bounce back offer, and catch a bus to Epcot. I have a late lunch ADR at LeCellier. I plan to wander around World Showcase as I never get to with the hubby and kids. Prior to park closing I will hop on over to MK for Wishes as it is open til 10 that night.
Friday May 25 I was lucky and snagged a before park opening ADR at Tusker House in AK. So I plan on having breakfast, then head on over to the single rider line on EE for a few trips to find the Yeti. I also plan to explore the trails in Asia and Africa, and also catch a glimpse of those silly Tumble Monkeys at the Lion King show. From AK I will then head back to the MK for some shopping on Main Street and a late lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern. My flight home is at 8:45pm, so I will need to get back to Pop in order to catch Magical Express to the airport.
Tuesday May 29 It is the 180 day mark for our family trip to WDW, so the ADR making can begin.
I have never done a trip report before, but I thought this short solo trip would be a great time to start one. Hope you enjoy reading along.
