I guess I don't see that as a great deal...its really only useful to those who live close to the world. I sure wouldn't be planning my trip around my birthday, since I live all the way in Indiana...it just wouldn't even make sense.

I find this hard to believe--they have been running those commercials an awful lot. I don't think it was a big announcement at all, even if you aren't a Diser

Yeah that is true too....they have already been advertising for the New Celebration theme.

I won't go on My B-day and I only live 2 hours away from DL! Its too hard to take a day in teh middle of the week to take advantage of this "deal"....nice concept, poor execution in my estimation!

The Christmas Day announcement "deal" was just a rumor that I am aware.
Deals are made available quite often. And usually people know about them from Mary's site or here before official announcements.

I realize it won't work out for many people, but that's the way all of the Disney promotions go, really. They work for some, and not for others. And give-aways are the same...not everyone "wins." During the 2+ years "of a million dreams" we never got any award in the promotion - never even saw the dream team during 3 separate trips. Many of the special promotions haven't worked for our dates or we weren't eligible, either. We've never gotten an email pin number for 40% off room rate, or any other promotion (although I get a kazillion emails from Disney...no offers!)

This Celebration one, though, is a great KaChing! for us. We were going twice this year anyway--once at the end of May (when DD, 20, is out of college for summer break) and then again in September for bounceback free dining with DS.

Well, it just works out well for us, because the May vacation time is typically during DH's birthday anyway. DH's Bday is always around Memorial Day and then mine is around Labor Day...and those are the weeks we're going so we both get to celebrate our Birthdays on-site. We're both going for the gift card because we have ticket swith the packages.
