Washington DC monument tours

Hi-
Planning a trip to Washington DC and have come across "moonlight tours of the monuments"
Anyone do a monument tour? Which company did you use? Did you like it?

I am not sure which company my sister used, but she found a great tour deal on Groupon. It is worth checking there.

We did a night time monument tour and really enjoyed it. The Monuments were beautiful at night.

We did the night monument tour through Grey Line tours. It was amazing! Seeing the Korean Memorial at night was almost eerie. The tour stopped at many places and gave you a set time to tour on your own and regroup.

Love the moonlight tours -- just the best way to see the monuments in my opinion!

We did a bike tour and it was so much fun. It was not difficult at all. Very flat and lots of stops. We chose a late afternoon tour in late August and our last stop was the Jefferson memorial just as it was getting dark. The moon was full and seeing it rise behind the memorial was so beautiful.

Just a couple of days ago, my son mentioned that his favorite part of our trip to DC last June was the "Monuments by Moonlight" tour. He just brought this up, out of the blue ... unprompted. We went with the Old Town Trolley company and our entire family loved it. We used them for a Boston tour several years ago and have been VERY pleased both times.

The nighttime tours are a great way to see a lot of the monuments when you have limited time. It's been so long that I don't remember which one we did, but at the time I did some research all of the competing companies had very good reviews and were pretty similarly priced. We just had a long weekend in the city, so this was a wonderful addition to our itinerary. // Yes seeing monuments on your own are free. But hotel room in Washington, D.C. aren't. Being able to fit more into a shorter trip (our main must dos) made the tour an excellent decision for us budget wise too. And it really is fun seeing the place all lit up too -- breathtaking.

Years ago I used to give visiting friends and relatives a nice late night DC and monuments tour in my personal vehicle and it was pretty awesome. Now it is not so fun anymore as you can do the drive by but parking is not available close up and by the time you've found a spot, and walked to the location you want to see, it's just inconvenient.

So I definitely recommend an established tour for convenience and safety.

It stops at all the different monuments and with a SmarTrip card is only $1 for 2 hours and you can hop on and off whenever you like and spend as much or as little time at each monument as you like.
