My DH went to a charity fundraiser last weekend for the Special Olympics in Washington DC. He was bidding on items at a silent auction.....and he won two similar packages. ("won" meaning he bid the most amount of $$ to "win" them!!!!)

anyway, each is for a two-night weekend away in Washington DC. One is for The Jefferson....which seems like an old historic hotel. We are going to keep that oneand use it ourselves. The other one is for the Wyndham Center City (Wyndham City Center???)...does anyone know anythign about this? It recently became just the City Center Hotel...and is no longer affiliated with the Wyndham. We want to give this to my in-laws....but want to make sure that the package is nice....anyone ever stayed at this hotel and can give us some feedback???

Thanks in advance for your help!!!!!

I did go there.....but thought maybe some one on the DIS would be able to give me some more info and specific info.
Thanks.

We live across the street from the City Center hotel. My in-laws usually stay there when they visit us, last time was in August, right before they took down the Wyndham name, and they'll be back there in May. It's an okay hotel, more or less basic-smallish room (though it fit my MIL, FIL, SIL, and 4yo niece adequately) with a desk, 2 beds, average bathroom. It's not a bad hotel at all, just nothing spectacular. There's a Shula's on the 1st floor, and a decent breakfast restaurant too. The location though is why I think most people stay there. It's right in between 2 metro stops (Foggy Bottom and Dupont Circle-so you have the red, blue, and orange lines within a few blocks) and walking distance to Georgetown and the Lincoln, WWII, Vietnam, Korea memorials. There are also a ton of restaurants within a few blocks of this hotel. The only downside to it is that they're building a condo building across the street so you might have construction noise from that. They're only in the phase of digging a huge hole right now, but they work on it everyday so I guess it could be annoying. Of course, I live right next to that and it doesnt' bother me, but then again, I'm certainly not on vacation! Anyway, overall I think it's a fine place to stay and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.
