My DH and I are taking a 3 day trip May 20-22 to Washington DC. It's our anniversary getaway for just the 2 of us. We are flying into Baltimore airport on the Friday night and staying at an airport hotel. Then on Saturday we'll rent a car and head into Washington. We have reservations at the Fairmont hotel for 2 nights. I have done a bit of research, but am looking for some local help on how best to see all the key sights (what not to miss) over 2 days and any good restaurants/shops. My husband is into history and American politics, but I'm not so much and being Canadian, we don't have a lot of American history background, but we do want to see the "hot spots". Also are there any outlet malls on way from Baltimore aiport to Washington!? Thanks, Jo

I can't help with the sightseeing aspects. I'm one of those people who "live here but do nothing" :teeth: .

There is an outlet mall called Arundel Mills that is halfway between Baltimore and DC. I believe it is in Laurel, Maryland.

Do you like beautiful buildings? If so don't miss the Library of Congress. :thumbsup2 I would also suggest Old Post Office Pavilion for food and views. We loved the Hillwood House Museum and since you have a car it is a great place to go to that is Historical but in a worldy way lots of russian and french art with great gardens one of our favorite places in DC. I just returned from a trip but I took 8 days in DC and am a proud American so loved the sites. For a Canadian I think you should try some of the memorials on the mall as they transend boundieries. 2 days isn't much time so get the Unofficial Guide to DC and go from there. PM if you have questions. :cool1:
