We leave on Sunday for our first trip as members, and I suddenly realized I need more info on the washers and dryers at OKW. We're staying in a studio, so I know we'll have to leave the room to do laundry ...are the laundry facilities spread out throughout the resort, or will we possibly be facing quite a walk to get to them? And is it like a laundromat, where we might end up having to wait for machines, or are we likely to have immediate access to them?

Thanks for sharing any experiences!

I think all the washers and dryers at OKW are in buildings close to the pools. It is like the laundry, if people are already using them, you will have to wait. I have never had that problem, but you never know when everyone is going to want to do laundry.

The laundry facilities are near the pools. One in each area : Miller's Road, Turtle Pond and Southpoint. I've never used them as we tend to get 1 or 2 bedroom villas, but I know while swimming at the Miller's pond pool recently, the laundry room was empty. This was around 8 or 9 pm. Can't really speak for how busy they get.
Have a great trip :flower:

I think there are two washers and maybe two or three dryers in each pool laundry room.

Remember, all the 1-B/R and 2-B/R, GV's have washers and dryers in the villas.

So the only others using the poolside washers/dryers like yourselves will be others who are also staying in Studios only. (Keep in mind many of the 'Studios' will actually be in use as a lock-off to a 1-B/R and will have access to the 1-B/R side's washer/dryer). You probably won't have any significant type of wait times.

Never had to wait for a washer/dryer...I get up very early so I just ran a load first thing in the a.m. Hope you love OKW as much as we do!

I saw a nice laundry room right by the main pool. I think it was free. The laundry room was empty.

they are in those building near the pools - even the main one.

where the ice machine is located.

I like to swim while I do the laundry.

there are 2 BIG washers and 4 dryers - you are surpose to take 2 dryers for each one washer - makes the drying faster.

the washers take about 35 minutes, the dryer can varify but expect 30 to 45 minutes.

I love OKW and SSR too - because you can go swimming while you wait for your laundry.

don't be inconsiderate. Some people actually put their laundry in the washer - used them both - then they went to the parks.....

that is not nice behavior!

I generally start early too - I like to walk in the morning - so at 6:30 am I can start my laundry - I walk for 20 minutes - put in the softenor - walk around 10 minutes - put them in the dryer. go get in my swimming suit and swim until the laundry is done.

I can generally get it all done and go to the parks by 8:30 or 9:30 at the latest.
