This is driving me nuts. It seems that the Regis and Kelly hosted WDW/DL Christmas Day Parade was live. But I kept seeing crowd reaction shots during commercial cutaways that I then saw later when it was supposed to be "live."

Do they shoot the parade a day early on the 24th?

Are some things taped?

Maybe there's a one hour tape delay?

What do you think or does someone actually "know?":yay:

They were taping the Christmas Parade early December when we were there. I didnt go- but it was Dec 1st I believe.

Yes, they tape the parade December 1st/2nd ish. :)

Last year I was there too when they taped, they always do it the first week of December.

It used to be live way back when- I was there in 1989/90 and it was live.

Not sure why they dont do that anymore??

Well, now I know. Thanks everyone!

It did kind of burst my bubble. I used to think all the celebrities must really enjoy being at WDW on Christmas, even though they have to "work" the parade. Ah well.

We were at WDW starting on 12/2. We were told by CMs that taping was still going on. I don’t want to spoil the Disney Magic but we found some of the information shared by CMs pretty interesting. Most of the crowd filmed watching the parade were CMs and friends and families of CMs. They were told what to wear and where to stand. The filming required them to be there for 8 to 10 hours. They were moved up and down Main Street to provide the best crowed scenes for filming. Some parade observers were provided costumes and/or props. Most of the cut away shots are pre arranged. The parade was edited and is not aired in the same sequence that it is filmed. The parade starts, stops, backs up and restarts depending upon requirements for filming. On 12/4 I asked a CM if he went to the parade and he replied, “sure, and took my wife, kids, dad, mom and sister”. When I asked him why he replied, “you never know, we might be on TV”. :santa:

i doubt Regis and Kelly would even work on Christmas.

i don't think many of the hosts enjoyed being there on Christmas morning, instead of being home with their families, anyway.

i would have loved to have been there! espically when they did the American Idol part.....*Ace*!! i wouldn't mind seeing him again and again!

As others have posted here it was taped Dec 1,2,3. this was while we were there but we avoided MK on those days. We also saw the parade at MVMVP and I have to say I was a little disappointed at the one that aired on TV. Live and in person was much better!!!! I felt like the one on tv was all teasers you never actually got to see the flow of the parade... Just my 2 cents.

We were there for the taping of the opening of the show Dec. 1. We saw the American Idols, the Princesses dancing with Emmit Smith and his daughters, and Michael Bolton. We were in front of the castle and spent about 3 hours there for the taping. Evem though we didn't get any "air time", we enjoyed being there for the taping. In fact I'd like to go back next year for it. We're not CM's but annual passholders. The day we were there they told us you had to be a passholder or Vacation club member to attend the taping but actually, once we got into the park after showing our passes, anyone at the park could attend the taping. We really did enjoy it.
